I like the idea, disables only the drivers cell phone in the vehicle, testing it with big rigs/trucks in India now.

Would this fly here in NA? with all the hands-free etc options, people are still distracted, but maybe have it such that it disables the cell phone if not using hands-free?

The jamming system operates whenever the driver turns on the ignition. The jamming device receives radiation emitted by the phone. The device can tell whether the mobile phone is being used by the driver or the passenger.
"Once the driver's use of cell phone is detected, a low-range jammer deactivates the cell phone without affecting other passengers' cell phones. The system is powered by the vehicle," said Shabeer, who has graduated in computer science and engineering from Anna University, Chennai.

on a bike related note, what if you rigged a jamming device on your bike that disabled phones within a 20 ft range of whoever was driving near you? Would see a bunch of confused cagers :D

Would love to have one on my bike to screw with people. Problem is if you crash or fall, would you be able to make a call from where you land?

Yep. Been available for years. You can get GPS jammers there, too.

I think if you get caught using your phone when driving the officer should it in the sewer. Thatll curb it if not its funny

I looked on their site first as i have seen them there before but couldn't find any.
 
Illegal in Canada. Only LE and Military are allowed to jam the spectrum and when they do it's come down all the way from a place near Ottawa. Time, freq. width and distance is regulated and can't be modified.

Can you buy them? Yes.

Can you use them and not get caught. Mostly, yes.

Can you be caught jamming? Absolutely, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

BTW: if you don't put out enough power (bubble) then you won't jam ****.
 
It's whoever puts out the most power gets their signal through. Mobile jamming is high tech and big money right now as companies scramble to get contracts.
 
Saudi Embassy has one in London UK. No mobiles work within 2 blocks. They also take your phone at the door.
