Cbr125r won't shift down or into 5th gear

So I just noticed this a couple weeks ago and now its becoming more frequent .

This is what happend. I was coming up to a light and was in 6th gear so I tried to down shift and I could feel my foot shifter not going down into gear. I'm kept trying to click it down. It was like a endless bottom and had no other choice when I got to the light but to turn it off and turn it back on and it went back down into first gear.

Also my 5th gear sometimes won't go in. I will shift into 5th and it will rev high like I'm not in gear , theN it will catch and take off, then coast again and rev high like it fell out of gear and keep repeating that till I shift into 6th. Kinda scary when going at a decent speed.

Do both these problems resemble the same part that could be worn or needs to be changed . advice would be greatly appericateded

Those are notorious for iffy gear changes. Make sure the clutch is fully disengaging. Take apart and lubricate the shift linkage. I have aftermarket rearset footpegs with linkage using proper heim joints and it shifts fine.

Where can I get aftermarket foot pegs with linkage? And what best lubricant for shift linkage?

I have the same problem too sometimes. I just let go of clutch and try again.

so is it not a major problem? or should i still take it to the shop to get it looked at? because its kinda scary being in 5th gear and its going in and out of gear ?

Oops! Sorry, I was referring to downshifting problem (which I have a similar issue with).

But I don't have the problem you are experiencing when going into 5th gear.

Yeah, probably should take it to a shop to get it looked at. I should do the same too! I'll join you!
