Cat 5 hurricane

I have been in Manzanillo, nice town, it ain't going to be nice anymore after this.

Also when I was in Puerto Vallarta, they were still recuperating from a Hurricane 5 years previously, I feel bad for these people.

I've seen the aftermath of Ivan as a category 3 hurricane. I think 200mph is pretty nasty. I hope it misses

I doubt it is going to miss. It's less than 100 miles off the coast and is already impacting the area.

This is not exciting.

I am normally ok with your humor but people are about to die so take it down a notch

Agreed. That was pretty tasteless. It was a tropical storm 24 hours ago, then gained massive strength overnight. Little evacuation was done and when they tried today, everything obviously clogged up. This is going to be ugly.

Looks like PV is safe. Downgraded to a cat 1 quickly.

update from my aunt and uncle

Melaque had 200 mph winds that drove rain at that speed. The roofs came off many homes, street signs are gone, the air conditioners at the beach front place we once stayed at had their air conditioners blown out. The power is out.
The trees are gone including orchards. The shops fronts are gone. It's an awful mess.

It sounds like a lot of damage. Just the same it could have been a heck of a lot worse. I feel badly for those in poverty who are scraping an existence and this storm has probably devastated them. Hopefully the Mexican government will do something for their less fortunate who have been adversely affected by this storm.
