Carrying Badminton/Tennis Racket on A Motorcycle

Getting excited about the upcoming biking season as the weather gets warmer! Counting down the days...

Just want to ask around if anyone has experience carrying badminton/tennis rackets on a motorcycle. I really want to ride to gym with my rackets instead of driving. I contemplated using a racket backpack.... however some people in badminton forums actually said it could be dangerous in the event of an accident... the rackets on your back could kill you ..😱.

I have a Nelson Rigg tail bag. Another way to do it is to have the racket handles sticking out of the tail bag about 11-12 inches.... And need to find a way to secure the zipper so the stuff in the tail bag don't fly out as zipper coming apart

Any suggestions?

I have carried them shoved in the back of my jacket (handle out the top). Probably not the smartest idea. I like your tail bag idea better.

I used to carry them in a double racket bag all the time for years, no issues, but never went down with them.

For about 10 years I used to play a lot of squash and would always ride my bike to the courts with my racquet in a bag slung over my shoulder/back. It was pretty sweet - I felt like a ninja dressed in all black and that racquet was my ninja sword.

Does your bike have any luggage racks or can you strap it down on the passenger seat area?
A pair of Rok Straps would work well for this purpose.

Strap it down to the back seat with some good straps and should be fine.

I’d recommend a backpack as that’s the easiest but you mentioned a safety concern.

I done it with 2 badminton rackets in my back pack at highway speeds. Here are some tips.
1. backpack needs to have zippers on both side
2. both zippers needs to connect/tied together (they will open up)
3. with both zippers connected/tied together needs to been secured to the backpack handle (because the rackets will shift to left or right)
4. have the racket handle slightly to the right or left so your helmet doesn't hit it.

you can use a shoe string to secure the zippers

too bad they don't make raquets that fold like those folding fishing rods LMAO...

I'd probably go with the tail bag idea...God forbid you get into an accident and have that in a backpack and hurt yourself, the insurance company might use it as a way to get out of paying for any possible rehabilitation you might need...

use @justride's ideas, only in a tail bag...

personally i'd just stick it in a backpack but depending on your bike you can just rokstrap it. no idea how that would affect insurance in case of anything happening etc though.

How about the classic hockey bag? Worked on my Gay Zed

Looks like a lot of weight out back but if you’re sensible shouldn’t be a problem

Now the paint! I kid I kid, ride happy

Not paint! The boldest most in your face fabric I could find held on with 3M Super77.
Get bored, peel it off and a bit of WD40 clears off the residue. Back to FabricLand, Rinse, Repeat.

It's not often that someone upgrades to a KLR to improve the look of their ride. I think the fabric ideal is cool and I'm glad you had fun with it but it's not my favorite look.

People would walk past a lot of chromed Harleys to see what the heck was up.
Team Zebra was more fabric....
