Carb Help

Hi everyone, this weekend I've been working on my bike (Ninja ZZR250 or EX250H same thing really) and I ran into some issues. The needle that sits in the main jet upon removal was bent actually both were decently bent. What could cause this? Also the spring that holds that needle down on the one side was broken. So Both jet needles are bent and one of the springs was broken. I took the bowls on the bottom off and the carb didn't have a spec of gum from gas etc. I have yet to clean it really was just hoping for input, should I get it rebuilt professionally, order parts to fix it myself, OR hope I can find a spare carb locally (or even ebay) to do a straight swap. Does anyone know of someone with a spare carb for a 88-07 250 Ninja for sale?

Thanks for reading

If you are comfortable, get a rebuild kit and have at it. I have never come across bent needles before (other then damaged on install by someone). Maybe someone else could shed light on that.

what is the make of the carb?

Bent fuel needles and broken slide springs? I guess it's not impossible that this happened through merely operating the bike, but the first thing that comes to mind is some seriously ham-fisted "maintenance" by a previous owner.

And if you already have the carbs off the bike and taken apart, you've done 90% of the work of a carb rebuild yourself. I would just order the parts and finish the job.

Ah okay I guess it isn't a that bad then. I was kinda annoyed, I just want to ride. I've spent quite a bit of time trouble shooting. Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. I can't remember the name, I think it started with a k, but it was built in Japan if that helps

Probably a Keihin then. Try Winners Circle on Steelcase Drive for parts
