Car help please :(

Hey, I'm in need of help with my 2007 vw rabbit. The problem with it is it shakes/bounces on acceleration and at highway speeds. I took it in to a mechanic a about 2 months ago and he said the problem was that I was still riding around on my winter tires and he said i wouldn't believe what they looked liked, they looked like dirt bike knobbies (no jokes)..... So that same week i got 4 brand new all season tires and everything has been fine up until a few weeks ago when the shaking/bouncing started coming back. Tires were put on professionally and balanced.

Car has 105k on it and it's automatic if that matters.
this is very stressful and i don't want to ruin these tires what could it be?

go get a tech to drive it and put the car up on a hoist to check the front end.

Yeah, the tires were balanced. Could it still be the alignment even if the car doesn't pull to one side when i let go on the steering wheel?

its not an alignment problem, does the tires show any wear on them, maybe one had a weight come off

I give the tires a nice rub down about once a week to see if there's any wear on the them but it doesn't feel like there is any.

Retorque the wheel nuts. Past couple of tire changes I've had to do that. Slight loosening gives you some nasty feedback inside the car. Worst I had was when crappy tire left the nuts so loose the damn wheel nearly came off.

You're not the first person to have that experience from Canadian Tire. It's scary how many negligent near-incidents I've heard from their shops - it's enough for me to never go there for any car work...no matter how cheap their tires may be.

it could be an alignment issue that causes odd tire wear, then they get to the point that they run untrue. You could have thrown a wheel weight (unlikely but possible), could be a bad front strut,
Take it to a shop that has an alignment rack, and a guy known for front end work. Its a VW, be prepared to spend some money.

Take it in before the check engine light comes on......

Precision Tuning is a really great shop. If you need work done, go see Perjad. He doesn't do alignments, but he knows your VW. Give him a call or drop by his shop (Keele/Langstaff) and see what he thinks. He's also a fellow rider.

I'd recommend the simple test first. Take off the wheels, retorque and drive. If that doesn't fix it, take off wheels, rotate them accordingly and see what happens. See if the problem changes (ie: the vibration comes from a different area of the car). If the problem persists then you can go to a mechanic. But it could be as simple as loose bolts. Stupid question...but if your car is shaking and bouncing at acceleration you're not accelerating very fast....are you? If you can see/feel the steering wheel wobbling at highway speeds it's out of balance. If the rear end feels wobbly then it's balance in the back.

Check the basics first like people said; wheel weights, wheel nut torque, air pressures. Otherwise it could be worn out struts, have them checked out.

Go to level auto by danforth an kenedy. They are great and professional people whom car forums recommend - so do i. Excellent work in terms of allignment.

Check your tires if the inner or outter tire is wearing faster than the others.

Like wht the others say, retorque all of your nuts. Also, dont go cheap and lazy because these little stuff can turn into big problems and it could cause bigger and more expensive repairs. Allignment should be done once in awhile anyways. Level auto charge $80. Id spend that money than replacing my tires.

Redo your nuts then go for allignment. Also check your hubs. Maybe they need to be replaced if it gets loud at higher speeds aswell. This shaking youre describing could be your fromt end misalligned.

From what i know if your seat shakes the rear wheels need alignment if the steering wheel shakes the front

+1, I was going to suggest Perjad too.
