Can I cover bike with tarp on the trailer?

Today's raining, hope it ends by the time we're at the track.... I need to load soon, want to ask: is there a problem trowing a tarp over the bike after it's been secured to the trailer? I was thinking to quckly pick up a 9x12ft tarp and putting it over. Any issues? Seems trivial, but I like this forum so much that it won't be me if I don't ask :)

It's a bad idea. The wind will cause a lot of flapping and can easily cause damage to paint and bodywork.

I use an open trailer, the bike gets rained on occasionally, it's no big deal. If it does get rained on just lube the chain after, it's not made of sugar so it'll be fine.

Alright, thanks. I was just at CanadianTire at the cashier with a brand new tarp in my hands.. didn't buy it, you're right, bike is fine in the rain.

You meant to lube the chain in the end of the day, right? I don't want to be lubing at the track, especially if it's still raining or there's a chance to rain.. It's just bad luck with this weather, I had everything planned out and prepared so well---lights taped, etc... is the blue painters tape going to hold up in the rain?

Lube after rain, before you ride again... whenever that is. If it rains on the bike on the way to the track but is dry at the track you should lube before you hit the track.

Painters tape should be ok, keep an eye on it and if it starts to peel or fall off just put some new tape on.
