Can anyone recommend a decent motorcycle cover?

Can anyone recommend a decent bike cover they've had real life experience with? I did a search of the forum and found this link and a couple of others but not many comments on how well they work.

I went to CT and they said they no longer sell motorcycle covers (Lakeshore & Leslie) and they're out of stock at a lot of the other stores. I drove up to Kapsco Moto last weekend and picked up the the cover that a member recommended in the thread. The guy at the store, I'm assuming he was the owner, was great because they had closed 10 minutes before I got there and he opened up the door and I was able to get a cover and front and rear stands.

I put the cover on my bike yesterday for the first time knowing that it was supposed to rain all day today and tomorrow and when I came home from work I checked my bike to see how well the cover worked and the seat cowl, seat and gas tank were wet. Am I expecting too much from a bike cover or should it be completely dry? Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Canadian tire has bike covers. I bought one for my bike for around $30.
NOTE: This cover is meant for indoor use. Its not weather proof, but maybe you can throw a tarp over it?

I was using a tarp but it would flap in the wind and I'd have to use a bunch of bungie cords to tie it down that's why I bought a fitted cover. It kind of defeats the purpose of buying a cover if you have to put a tarp over it no?

I went to Canadian Tire (CT) and they said they don't sell them anymore.

many things to consider when covering, 1. indoor/outdoor 2.fitted/generic 3.$$$ u can spend alot of $$ to end up with something u wont/dont need or if u buy cheap, u get a piece of junk plastic that u could buy better at JYSK....if u want ultimate protection and its indoors, buy the bubble, u put your bike in it, seal it up, plug it in it blows itself up and keeps the bike clean and free from moisture buildup if stored indoors, must be plugged in the whole time...its transparent so u can see the machine....CT does have covers as well as walmart, will do the job but cover with a blanket before puttin on the cover to prevnt scratches

MY friends bought the Nelson Rigg and they like it. One stores his bike outside too and I never heard any complaints about him regarding rain.

I bought mine off ebay for $0.01 and like $8 shipping. Needless to say, you get what you pay for lol. I don't store mine outdoors though, but I still use it (unsatisfactorily) when I go to work in the rain. Better than nothing lol..I'll be asking for one for my birthday I suppose in the spring.

btw, you get what you pay for.. buy a $10 cover, and thats the quality you will receive.

using a cover for overnight/weekday storage is a bit much, personally. your bike isnt made of sugar...lol

Plastidip.

:D

Thanks. I've never heard of Nelson Rigg before. I only know of the brands I've seen around town like Gears or the ones I've Googled but didn't know what the quality was of any of these. Since my bike sits outside uncovered during the riding season I wanted a proper fitted motorcycle cover to prevent fading and to keep it dry in the rain. The blue tarp and bungie cords kept my bike drier than this cover I bought so I'm returning it and going with something else. I don't mind paying a bit more for quality.

For anyone storing theirs indoors, check out Princess Auto. The generic-branded one they have there works great for protection against dust, and it's felt-lined so it won't scratch the bike. I think it was ~$30

It's not waterproof, though.

Ordered a Nelson Rigg one off ebay. Let you know how it is compaired to my GEARS one.

Post your comments when you get it. I may be asking for one for Christmas.

It came in yesterday but I haven't had a chance to open it up yet. Wont get a chance to really test it out till my bike comes home from surgury:(

Do you guys think it would it be better to use an outdoor cover in a fairly damp garage? We park our cars in there and all the snow from the wheel wells + the warm engines ends up making the garage kinda wet in the winter.
Any recommendations for this situation?
Thanks

I've tried many covers over the years and nelson Riggs is the best. I store my bike outside all winter and that's what I use.

I bought a cheap one from Royal a few years ago. So far it seems to work fine. Judging by the puddles sitting on it, it's waterproof (not like the one I had on my car that did absolutely nothing... worse than leaving it exposed). Was like $30 or something.
