BRP is investing a ton of dough into ELECTRIC
New battery plant and R&D in Quebec and new electric motor, RotaxElectric, plant and R&D in Europe
They're aiming for an electric offering in each of their markets by 2026

Call me cynical, but another CGI vaporware video does not get me excited.

I would normally feel the same way. With BRP already being so well established in powersports manufacturing and distribution as well as their purchase of Alta I would bet that these will make it to market. Price and how well they sell is still to be told. Alta was the best in electric off-road in its time but things have changed allot since then. I'm not sure how much value 10yr old ev tech is now.

They were able to put the 3 wheelers on the map in quebec (honestly when you go there, theyre everywhere, they have their own licensing too)
So for this to take off isn't tooooo far fetched but it will be a smaller market at first. I mean how many zero motorcycles do we have on the forum @anterabae ?
More options might mean more uptake. Time will tell

Anyone here ever owned a canam anything? Arent they really unreliable?

I used to have 2, an MX125 and a 250Enduro.

They were as dependable as any motocross bike.

They smoked everything in their class, sweeping 6days Enduro in their intro year. It was a surprise when Bombardier quit the business 7 years after starting.

Probably already been posted here but i guess it's relevant

Thanks again, fortnine

That was a fairly romanticized recollection of Can-Am history... Canada has never done **** at ISDT.
In 1973 Frank Mrazek rode a Can-Am for the Czech team... as I remember it Frank rode the bike because it got him a free trip home to visit mom while he practiced with the Czech team. Frank lived in Longbranch at the time.

... and the Suzukis of the day would SMOKE a Can-Am. They TOO had rotary valve intakes, but a MUCH better pipe

I enjoyed that video and learned that Evinrude is under the BRP umbrella, never knew that.

It was a long time ago when I had them. I'm no pro rider, but way back my buddies on stock ITs and TMs couldn't keep up with the guys riding MXs. Maybe a little different for pro riders and pro-built racers, but out of the box CanAms were pretty good.

The chain is on the right, and the kicker on the left.

The 175MX was competitive AF in the day.

Is that what you meant to say?

I remember a glowing review of this by CC back in the day. But by then the writing was on the wall for 2 smoke on the street.
Why not again? They apparently have deep pockets....

You know anywhere Federal or Quebec gov't money is available... BRP will be the first at the trough.

I'll bet there are huge subsidies getting pumped into this... millions for development, millions more for Quebec factories.
