It's difficult to for me to imagine a way this is cost effective given all the costs of shipping involved in teh process.
In the line of my work I've seen people order products from far off in the USA that cost a LOT of money to ship across the country, import, and finally get delivered to their facilities when (I sh!t you not) there are companies literally kilometres away making the same products that could literally be thrown in a pickup truck and delivered same day at a comparable, if not notably *less* cost in the end. Why? People don't take the time to look around and explore *all* the options, they just do a quick Google search and run with the first hit, click "buy", put in a credit card, and done.
Moral of the story here, I'm reasonably confident that if they did some work and put this sort of work out to tender here in Canada they'd find a better, faster, and probably cost competitive method to do it right here.
