Cable TV "digital equipment" issue

Got back from a week in the bush to find that half of my cable channels now require digital equipment. I have a 42" LCD HDTV, didn't think this would affect me.

I read on the cogeco site that I need a digital adapter. Is this all I need to get my channels back?
I live in a set up almost identical to a dorm, so I don't really control the cable package or anything, so if I need to set something up specificaly for me I'm out of luck.

Will all I need be this little box to get my channels back?

cogeco store if your near one or a radio shack (the source store) , about $39 should fix it.

The switchover from analog to digital happened a while ago, i'm surprised your just being affected now.

you're running straight (analog) cable into your TV? that must look brutal.

The digital adapter will put it back the way it was, but you're not actually getting any channels in HD (you weren't before either).

You'll have to rent digital adapters from Cogeco now. They're $2/mo each. They can't be purchased.

Yet another reason I'm glad I kicked Cogeco to the curb long ago and switched to digital antenna.

You'll either need a Cogeco D/A Converter or a Cable Box. Your TV should have a digital tuner built in, so you can try scanning for channels and see what it finds but don't be surprised if the channel numbers are whack and many channels don't come in properly.

Thanks. I did another scan with the TV, found a few of the "lost" channels. Luckily, I got SPEED which is the most important since we're in the middle of the supercross season... Don't have Discovery, CMT or TLC now so guess I'll just get the adapter...

The problem is, those channels are going to keep moving around and you'll have to keep rescanning.
