Buzz words

Engineer at the cubicle next to me is a BIG fan of buzzwords.

I am so sick of hearing them. Just speak normally for christ's sake!

Examples:
-the players
-verbage (not actually a word)

Actually, I can't think of anymore because I try not to remember them.

Anyone else have to listen to this?

Verbage is a perfectly cromulent word....I don't know where your beef is.

Paradigm shift, it's the new outside of the box.

The power of jargon lies in its synergies and its ability to create efficiencies going forward...

Kinda similar, but not really. I'm a dispatcher, and there's a LOT of radio lingo that gets used in face-to-face conversations with co-workers.

Yeah, yeah, I know, lame.

He's trying to create a symbiotic flow so all the movers and shakers can share a brainstorming harmony. Give the dude some props for his trying to break through the clutter at the end of the day.
Its what he brings to the table, its a win-win.

and your not working in a cubicle, its a power space, use that power wisely.........

Bah, an engineer, working out of a cubicle? Can't be that good.

.

Unless your whole office is open concept. Our GM sits in a cubicle. lol

Let me see:
- Aspirational - Wasn't a word 5 years ago...is now. Thanks Marketing people.
- Key Learnings - Common word used in marketing research presentations.
- Any TLA - Three Letter Acronym, I can think of about 20 without pushing too hard. Finance loves these.

I remember a contractor I used to work with was on a plane to Montreal with her clients who worked for a major CPG firm. This woman is fluent in 5 languages. At one point they were using so much jargon she had to ask them if they were speaking a different language!

What you need is some blue sky thinking. Had an old boss that used to say that all the time. He was too busy with his head in the clouds to notice his business failing.

lmao some times I talk to my friends like this and they have no clue what I'm saying. So hard to stop when you use it all day long.

I've got a buddy who's a trucker (not a truck driver, a TRUCKER). He's just down right classic to talk to. Keep the wheels spinnin' and the beavers, grinnin'.

You want buzz words and acronyms? Most of what we say seems to be some form of it in the military. There are complete sentences that can be a couple short form words or acronyms, followed by a bunch of numbers and people understand what's been said.

There seems to be a lot of it involved with medical people too... But that's just because the words are too hard to spell/pronounce I think... I swear some of these doctors that invent/find something aren't happy with a name for it until it's impossible to spell or to say easy...
