Maybe that's the plan.....how is a video of a bike with no plates going to help the police?
If take a video in your car doing 120km on the highway of a bike with no plates, your gonna get a speeding ticket!
I guess they’re looking for others to rat them out?
They tarnish us all. I'd be first in line.I guess they’re looking for others to rat them out?
Unless YADU is super hot, I don't think that will work out for them. There’s a car in our area with 2 different sets of plates.
YADU on the front and back (I’d say 90% chance it’s fake), and actual normal 7 alphanumeric on the dash…
I assume the YADU is fake, and if caught he can say ‘see officer I have my real plates right here’.
Hot or not, if YADU plate is fake...no issues with 407 / red light cameras / speed cameras, or any witnesses to shenanigans or illegal acts.Unless YADU is super hot, I don't think that will work out for them.
Buried plate or no plate often means no driver's licence or insurance too. Rat 'em out - let the courts decide. The number of unplated bikes that I see, in Peel and Toronto, is at insane levels. i'm just as likely to see an unplated bike as i am a plated one. Yes, police are hoping that citizens will "rat out" (what law abiding people refer to as "report") these criminals.
Tucked plate could also just mean the rider wants to keep the tail profile clean. I do.Buried plate or no plate often means no driver's licence or insurance too. Rat 'em out - let the courts decide.
If it's "tucked" then it's not displayed legally and you could catch a ticket for it. Likely won't, though, because police are notoriously bad at enforcing such things.Tucked plate could also just mean the rider wants to keep the tail profile clean. I do.
It's tucked but completely readable behind me. Now for the guys burying it in front of the rear wheel, yeah no Bueno.
Oh I know, also no light. If it's "tucked" then it's not displayed legally and you could catch a ticket for it. Likely won't, though, because police are notoriously bad at enforcing such things.
You don't even need a task force. ALPR in on all OPP vehicles and many municipal police vehicles. You just need a directive to focus on ALPR hits instead of speed for a few days.In all honesty, I'd be all for a new 'task force' that would just focus on illegal plates, missing / covered plates, or those tinted plates.
I believe it's called the 'broken window' theory policing that worked in the 70s or 80s in NYC where they cracked down hard on petty little infractions in order to get people to notice that the police are 'serious' about this.
As for plated v non-plated...so many bikes out there without plates. Lots of cars with notably fake plates, and the amount of bikes splitting / riding the shoulder recently is at an all time high.
If I wasn't such a pansy I'd run the should also because being stuck in traffic blows ***.
Riding on the shoulder is a smaller, almost trivial ticket if you get caught. Splitting lanes, you don't want to get caught doing that.In all honesty, I'd be all for a new 'task force' that would just focus on illegal plates, missing / covered plates, or those tinted plates.

Oh nice! I thought both were HTA172 infractions.Riding on the shoulder is a smaller, almost trivial ticket if you get caught. Splitting lanes, you don't want to get caught doing that.
