I should have thought of a better title than "Brian from Toronto," but I didn't, and I am from Toronto, which is why I'm on this forum!
I've been meaning to post an introduction for a while, but have been sidetracked by my many other interests and responsibilities until now. I've been riding bikes for 5 years, and am on my 4th bike already. My bikes have been:
-2002 ZZR 250 (Champagne); got bored of it after 2 months.
-2001 Ninja 500R (Blue); wanted to try a supersport, so I sold it.
-2007 Ninja ZX-6R (Green); loved the bike, but a bit too fancy and high maintenance for me; didn't suit my style very well.
And finally now I have a blue 2000 SV650 that I'm in the process of completely rebuilding. Check out my build thread here: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?180260-1st-Gen-SV650-Build
I "downgraded" from the ZX6 to the SV because I wanted something a bit cheaper, more comfortable, and more customizable. Not to mention something I could mess with a bit more and not worry about. I had dropped the Ninja once from a stand still, and hated the feeling of messing up a pristine bike with such a small mistake.
My plan is to start rebuilding bikes and customizing them with modern forks and more industrial looking designs. I'm much more a fan of the naked/streetfighter/cafe racer look. I'm hoping to buy another older bike soon and start working on that as well.
Hopefully I'll see you in Toronto!
