Brampton M EXIT test

I had my test early this morning

I read other post about the test and figured this may help someone so here goes
its long and detailed - some of the things I'm pointing out are obvious and I didnt get dinged for :)

Park bike behind the building - not in a spot
he comes over and checks signals and 4 ways if your bike has it
back break (both foot and hand break)
Ear piece sucks - really sucks youll end up forcing it on, but I could hear him clearly

He tells me the highway part as that will not be explained when on the highway
"you will get on the highway, when safe make 1 lane change to the left and then when safe back onto the original lane" "you will be exiting the next exit and instruction will follow"

he tells me when your ready begin
I took a moment to compose myself - start observing everything and exaggerate every head movement. Make a Right onto First Gulf - than a lane change to the left lane (he had to tell me it was a 50 zone - I was doing 40km) get back in the right lane at Kennedy make a right (this is a school zone notice the flashing lights on your right side it says when flashing go 40km otherwise its 60km, it was flashing for me)
go slower than 40 above 40 is not good.

Past the lights - be sure to check the traffic as you go through the intersection
there is a left turn up ahead at a light keep looking everywhere like a bobble head
get to a stop sign make a left turn (check your blocking position)
40 speed limt - lots of driveways and small streets intersecting
you will pass a school zone bobble your head its important

an emergency stop - look, signal, look go into the space (not blocking anything check for drive ways, fire hydrants etc.) stop close to the curb parellel to curb. Put on hazards turn bike off and kick stand down. LOOK before dismounting bike. Reverse and back on bike. Ride some more. Than at the stop sign ORCHARD street - youll be making a left - stop make eye contact if needed - bobble head and proceed slowly and maintain correct lane positon. Youll see a set of lights -Steeles make a left - look at traffic both ways - stay in the far left lane - there are two lane changes ahead so you will eventually be on the Right lane - he meantions the hwy 410 ahead. The ramp is not crazy fast I belive it calls for 30km I was going over that - take the highway, Look, pick up speed look mirrors and to the side, put on signal and Look, merge when safe (dosent matter about lane position as its a middle lane, when safe look to the right turn signal on look again and merge into the lane (safetly of course) exit ahead into the right lane signal right and keep it on - make the right - he than told me to cross the two lanes (be sure to stay in the lane for a few seconds turn signal off than back on again for the next lane change) into the left turning lane (ahead there is two turn left lanes I stayed on the one in the right) make the left turn you have a disegnated signal.
Continue on First Gulf Blvd. up ahead you will be making a right into the plaza )back side of where you exited from there is two stops - first one easy - second one happens to have a speed bump right on it - so I put my front wheel infront behind the line of course. Make the right and stop where it all began
Tada a Pass with 7 dings -all minor

Other notes to remember
- When signalling remember to turn it off once the turn/lane change is achieved
- when entering the hwy in the straight part of the hwy start looking at conditons of the hwy you will be merging on
- when exiting hwy or merging tap breaks so person behind you knows your slowing down
- never take your hand off the break at a stop light
LOOK bobble head LOOK (my neck hurts after all that movement)

I didnt get dinged for having both my feet on the ground when stopped - but I always had my hand break applied so my light stayed on.
- it was a windy day

I made sure to have my bike facing out so it was easier to exit at the start of the test

Hope this helps - Good luck whoot hooo!!

Need to take my M Exit test next summer.

What is the next level beyond "M" that you are exiting to? FYI, you take the "M1 Exit" test to get your M2, and you take the "M2 Exit" test to get your full M.

OP, congrats on getting your M :)

Smartass!! LOL!! j/k

Congrats man... I just did my m1x in Brampton and am familiar with the area so I could picture your test. I'm planning on doing a course for my m2x but if I dont get around to it this post will definitely be a point of reference.

Thanks for taking the time out to write such a detailed piece.

nice read.
will do my M2 exit this coming summer 2011
thanks

back break (both foot and hand break)

he tells me when your ready begin

It's BRAKE, not "BREAK". You didn't break anything, you applied your brakes.

Also he tells you when "YOU ARE" ready, not when "YOUR" ready.

when exiting hwy or merging tap breaks

Again, BRAKES not BREAKS. Were you taking coffee breaks, or using your motorcycle brakes?

You passed your riding test and got your M, but your spelling is a miserable fail and you get an F.

All that useless moaning and you didn't even point out the run-on sentences. What a great teacher!

Going for my M2 test tomorrow in Aurora. Been riding accident free in the UK for 20 years but this still scares the b'jesus out of me.

Great details BcupP thx

The Road Warrior : you're the worst.
This user writes a long help section and all you can do is whine about their grammar? This is not GTANOVELIST.com.

Buttercupprincess You are however, the best. Going for my m2 exit now. Thank you for writing this post

Thanks for the detailed description, I know that route and I will ride it a few times before I do my test. Thanks again

Thank you for the excellent write up on the Brampton test route. I passed M2 exit this morning, and this thread helped a lot. It helps a lot to be familiar with the route for sure.
A couple of points on this route are tricky.
Once you exit the parking lot and come on to First Guld blvd, the speed limit is 40. It changes to 50 after about 500m. Guess what, the slimy tester will tell you to do a lane change to the left just about where the 50 limit starts. You are doing the shoulder check, mirror check, ALL ON THE LEFT, and it's easy to miss the board on the right, and you will be too slow.
Second place is as you turn right onto Kennedy rd. Again, while you are doing all the right stuff like checking left, right, left, signal, watching your speedo, NOT changing gears in the intersection, there's a school zone flashing light on the right, just as you turn onto Kennedy. Very easy to miss this unless you know it's there.
The rest is pretty easy.
Good luck everybody!!

The slimy examiner probably told you to do the lane changes when it was "safe to do so". That doesn't mean "now". Also, if you don't speed up to 50 immediately at a speed limit change, it's not really an error. Entirely different if it goes from 50 to 40.
