bp goes adv

Nice! Welcome to the realm of the rising sun!

Out of curiosity, what caused the change from Euro to Japanese? 1658881121170.png

Nice! Curious what your take is. You've probably figured out it would be my choice for an ADV touring bike, especially in those colours...

New, I assume? I've been keeping an eye on used prices, and even two year old ones are barely less than new. Also, did you go with the DCT or old school?

Enjoy!

It is new, the adventure sports touring model

I havent put a lot of miles on it yet so this is fairly preliminary, I went with the DCT, based on the reviews saying its flawless, and in my real world experience, this is def true, its impossible to fool tbh.

I was a bit worried as its a large heavy bike with no clutch and I have a tight garage to maneuver around, but no issues, the DCT is foolproof, the fueling is scary good, really dialed in.

As for the colors I wanted something more aesthetically pleasing after the last orange bike

I honestly like the DCT over an old school shifter now. Its so easy to handle on the road at all speeds and scenarios that I can see it being a phenomenal commuter as well.

It seems there are 3 ways to shift, you leave it in automatic(drive) and it short shifts for you, you can put it in sport mode and it seems to hold the gears a bit longer, or you can go into full manual mode and shift like a regular manual bike but with little paddles.

You can also at any point temporarily override the automatic if you want to

The biggest surprises so far?
1. The sound. Its amazing. theres no slip-on or exhaust on it, but it sounds really good stock(way better than the duke ever did).
2. The ease-ability of it. Its so easy to use, very well balanced at low speeds, the DCT makes it really easy to ride, I dont have to put it in nuetral at red lights, it never stalls, I dont even have to put my feet down at stop signs.

The switchgear quality is MILES ahead of the ktm. (No more sloppy indicator button.)
Every button or switch is very tactile and positive.
Also happy to have an old school key again.

Because its a flagship ADV bike, the number of modes, buttons, electronic options and adjustability is mind boggling.
It will likely take me 2 weeks of riding/reading the manual to understand everything.

There were some other bikes I was also looking at but the deciding factor was the suspension, by all accounts its ridiculously good, with infinite adjustability.

You can try it out if you ever drop by one of the meets.

Congrats on the new bike! Those are the colours I would have gone for as well. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

Great choice.

Honda has their ADV models well advanced.

I've already put 4K on my NC750X, non DCT. Did a 430km run yesterday up north and back. Got an average of 3.8L/100km, accelerates hard and hit passing speeds of 145kpm and there was more to go. Buddy had his Goldwing that I had no trouble keep up with.

Very nice bike and great colour scheme.

Everyone I know who goes DCT says it's amazing, they don't miss the manual T at all.

Woah, congrats! I can't imagine giving up the torque of the SDR, once you're used to it.
Thanks!
Tbh I've always wanted to do long distance touring, putting on the miles, so a big comfy adventure bike was the way to go.

Its not superduke fast, but its not slow either, never felt wanting for power riding around

…it sounds really good stock(way better than the duke ever did).
