The thing with Mississauga... Hazel used all the growth potential to get developer money to fund everything. Now that this source of money has dried up, money has to come from somewhere else. And infrastructure needs to be built as it keeps growing... even with this replacement mayor in Sauga, shes putting in a big increase in taxes as we have to make up for all the decades of low to no tax increases.
Also when you have a government who keeps cutting cutting cutting, you will inevitably end up spending to put back in place certain services/maintenance schedules, etc. That's how the pendulum goes.
Hazel also played games. Things like when normal road has 4" asphalt, Hazel allowed 3". It fails in half the time but that is a future problem. About the time you run out of green development areas is about the time your entire infrastructure is EOL.

A bit of advice.... advice I was given by more than one "political staffer", different people from all stripes.
Phone or door, they note who said they will and will not support them (all parties). My suggestion is to always say you have my vote but bring up concerns I have. Sort of like, you got my vote but I am concerned about XXXX (which may be a sticking point for them). When they ask about a sign I say no I want to keep my politics private. When they ask about money I say sorry times are tough, job.... We do this for all parties... hate them or not.
Why... if in the future you need the help of your MPP (or MP, city council...) they look at their lists. First who donated then who said I support you. If you bust their balls and tell them to get to steppin' you are on the don't expect them to do much for you list.
