BONEHEAD MOVE - melted plastic tarp on hot muffler

If it is a chrome muffler Easy Off Oven cleaner but make sure it does not get on anything painted

try heating and scraping off what you can and then char and pick off the rest cold.
Could also try wrapping it in a cloth soaked with acetone. Not sure if it will effect the finish of the exhaust though.

Thanks very much for this taximan62, it is just the chrome.

Not worried about theft at all. I have a floor anchor which is no guarantee but there are a bunch of bikes around me with no lock and they are all way better mine. I live at 24 Sussex Drive. Its a nice area and feels pretty safe.

thx for helping and making me smile.

I would not recommend putting an address...TMI...you have given information about the other bikes...Now I will be over tomorrow..lol...I`m sure you know what I mean

You can also heat it up and then use something soft like a popsicle stick and scrape it off.

I am sorry you are not living at THE 26 Sussex, I have a few words to say...lol...Thank you for your kind words.

safest thing on metal or chome for remove burnt plastic is laquer thinners or kerosene/mineral spirits.
laquer evaporates almost instantly like alcohol but is stronger and doesnt harm metal.
i melted a whole saddle bag all over my carbon fibre exhaust last season HAH. it came off with 1 wipe.

So - any feedback! I threw my cover over my bike and it melted to my pipes. Did the Easy Off oven cleaner work. I don't want to scratch it. I should add that I have gone out on it since so it's a real nice brownish caked on spot. Ug!
