Are blue plates for motorcycles for dealers only?!

Glad to see you're posting Johny.

This topic brought back memories of the old days when the plate colours alternated each year - blue with white one year and white with blue the next. Hmm, when did that stop? 1976?

shucks, i want one

Trust me you don't well unless you like getting pulled over a lot. When I worked for a dealer we had our own dealer plates and I used to get pulled over at least weekly for it. Either the cop didnt know what it was or asked why I had a dealer plate and then would check insurance and make sure the bike was registered in the dealers name. It was a facking pain in the *** sometimes.

any pics of motorcycle dealer plates? google images returned nada

they look very similar to this:

+1... I got pulled over a few times because of it but it doesn't bother me because I'm 100% legit.
However, last time I got pulled over I was driving a car that just got on our lot and the dealer we bought the car from didn't transfer it under our company name. Got a ticket, taking it to court... blah blah blah... It's a hassle.

I have what must be a very old/specific Ontario motorcycle plate. It's green with white lettering. A friend of mine found it by the roadside years ago.

I believe green plates are for off-road vehicles. You are thus plated and able to get insurance, but you cannot drive on public roads.

It's the same size as an M/C plate and I think there may be a year on it. I'll check when I get back.

Maybe a old snowmobile plate from the early 60-70's before we were required to put numbers on the cowls.

Thats just an off road motorcycle plate... I got one along with the ownership, when I bought my CRF50 brand new at a dealer....
