So the other day I'm loading my BW200 in my truck and I run in the house to take a leak. Come back out and see this random dude walking out my driveway. Ask him what's up and he says he was just admiring my bike and he picks up a note he left on my windshield. He wants to trade my '86 Yamaha BW200 for the Honda. Mine is restored really well but I'm keeping it. Now I'm considering just to buy the Honda as these plated MX bikes are hard to come by. Says he wants around 3 g's for it. It would make an awesome SM bike as well as a dirt setup. Anybody have experience with these bikes? Maintenance issues etc...Thanks guys

Ive got a 05 crf 450r, I guess the main thing is valves, stay on top of them, and usual oil and filter changes, I do mine like every other ride, which lately has meant once a year.

Probably going to be putting mine up forsale since ive used it 3 times in the last 2 years

SM and road use are 2 things that will take some upgrades. Sustained high revs will be hard on a CRF motor, not to mention hard downshifts. CRF motors need their intake valves checked every 5 hrs, thankfully they are eazy to get to. The cheapest upgrade for that riding application would be the "Kibblewhite" intake valves. That would get you enough to lightly play around on pavement. If you like the SM or riding it on the street, I'd talk to a guy like http://www.d4performance.com/ He would be able to tell you in detail what upgrades you should think about and costs.
