Blue Jays suck...again

Another year, another crappy finish for the Blue Jays. And it's not going to get better any time soon. Even if those heartless zombies at Rogers decide to spend some cash on pitching in the offseason, I have little faith in the "regulars." Never mind the fact that we have no first baseman, second baseman or left fielder.

This assbaggery would not be tolerated in Boston or New York.

Come on, you can't blame the bus load of injuries that happened all at once on the owners. **** happens.

I like what Anthopolous is trying to do, we'll see what will happen next season.

this is exactly why toronto sports teams SUCK! this is professional sports. like you said **** happens. so build a team to withstand it.

other teams succeed while injured. how do we explain the other injury free seasons and we still sucked? there is always some lame excuse. in toronto injuries are just an welcomed excuse for a **** year we would have had any ways.

the jays have not competed for a playoff spot since 1994

You would have to go full retard to watch baseball.

What he said.

Baseball is awesome. There is no greater confrontation in sports than pitcher vs. batter. The variables are endless. It's magic.

Me, I can't stand hockey. Watched it and played as a kid, but can't understand this country's rediculous fascination with hockey. But hey, at least we can keep celebrating a goal scored against the Russians 40 years ago... Sheesh.

I like watching baseball, even then, I have a hard time arguing that baseball is a ridiculous concept. I can't think of one professional sport where the players are so inactive. Think about it

-Every ten minutes (say an average for half an inning) your whole team takes a break while each player waits their turn in line to bat. On average, a player is at the plate only 3-4 times per game. There is even a designated hitter, a guy who's one and only job is to bat in place of the pitcher. He has no other tasks

-The team then goes out into the field. The pitcher and catcher are obviously busy throwing balls to each other, but what about the rest of the team? Say your right fielder, if none of the balls go into his area, he's standing out there scratching his nuts. Obviously each player does something throughout the game, but there is a huge gap in level of activity

-There are many obviously overweight and out of shape baseball players. As John Kruk said, "I ain't an athlete, lady. I'm a ballplayer."

Someone please correct me if something is inaccurate

You're right, some are out of shape. Others are machines. Just try running down and catching a rope line drive, or hitting a 95 mph fastball and you'll agree these guys are athletes.

The inherit problem with the Jays making the playoffs is that they are in the deepest division in the American League. They will always have to beat 2 of the biggest budget teams in the entire league to make it.

Considering the Blue Jays, like all other Toronto sports franchises, are owned by Businessmen who only care about the bottom line, that amount of money will NEVER be put into them. The same way the Leafs will never get any better. There is no financial gain for the owners so why bother.

You're right, there's no gain for the Leafs' ownership cause the ACC will sell out every time regardless of their crap play. But attendance at the Rogers Centre has dropped again, badly, after a good start this past spring. There's a lot to be gained for the Jays. Geez, I remember when it was a 50-thousand capacity crowd almost every night.

The other problem is that Uncle Ted is gone. (That's what we used to call Ted Rogers when I worked there.) Say what you will about the man, but he was a visionary, and he was always willing to take chances. Now that he's gone, they got that bean counter Nadir running the show with a board of executives that are only worried about share price. Anthopoulos can't fart without first asking permission. And even then, Paul Beeston has to watch him.

I loved the Yankees as a kid. Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield, Danny Tartabull. It may be time to buy a Yankees jersey.

This. The onus is on the fans to stop going to games (moreso than already). Even with the new Wild Card spot, it's a stretch for the Jays to make the playoffs ever again as long as Boston (Go Sox) and the NY team keep dumping 8+ figures into the team each season.

Without a doubt, some of them are incredible athletes, some look like guys that had too many beers. I can't remember the number but I think it's something like a half a second, the time it takes for a fastball to leave a pitcher's hand to the time it crosses the plate. That's insane

I don't get why anybody should care about one team or athlete over another. It's not like they're fighting against evil and tyranny. The worst thing that can happen if they lose is, nothing. It's a whole bunch of drama for nothing, like a soap opera for men.

They're not playing for Toronto, you know? They love us long time until a bigger paycheque comes along.

Some people smoke, others do drugs, I scream at the TV and watch hockey.

The DH is only in the Amercian league. In the National league the pitcher has to bat, and it is usually quite comically to watch.

I would say football is way worse than baseball for inactivity.

To be a defender you just need to be the biggest you possibly can while being able to move.

From wikipedia- Each team has 11 players on the field at a time. Usually there are many more players off the field (an NFL team has a limit of 53 players on its roster, 46 of whom can be dressed for a game). However, teams may substitute for any or all of their players during the breaks between plays.

if I remember it correctly, one of the superbowls, they only actually played for less than 10 minutes.

I'm not saying baseball or football is better or worse, I'm just trying to stick to facts. I personally enjoy baseball because I know all the rules and I enjoy watching it and watching my son play and enjoy it.

dont forget anthopolus is a been counter too.

I was at the Yankees game on Sunday. Jays were leading 5-1. Then it became 9-5 (8 runs in a row by the Yankees). We scored a mercy run and lost 9-6 lol.

When im having trouble sleeping i turn on baseball. Out cold in 5 hahah

Sports in toronto are gonna be **** as long as fans keep paying ridiculous prices to see garbage teams. Once the owners get hit in the wallet, then they'll do something.
