Good experience with this dealership.

Traded in my 2018 Fatbob 114 for a 2022 Pan America Special

The deal went very smoothly, offered me just slightly less than I wanted for my 2018 HD ($500 to be exact).
the 2022 is actually new (only 6km) but they sold it to me as used so I saved a few thousand.
And they gave my wife two free t-shirts. (So I still don't own a HD t-shirt.. LOL)

Gave me a full tour and met all the staff, they are pet friendly and have a really good coffee machine.
While I know many people dislike HD, but wanted to share this personal experience.

I had a good experience at Apex next door. Separate owners but those Cambridge folks are nice.

That is good to know, if HD lowballed me I would have ridden over there for sure.

Yes, but you saved more on the taxes, you would have paid if you sold the 2018 privately, so you did great. (y)

Thanks. When you're a level headed customer, you tend to have a good experience.

This. So many people don't understand that when a dealer buys your bike they're buying a depreciating asset that they need to carry the cost of it (either tying up available cash, or paying interest until they find a buyer for it if they buy it from you on credit), carrying the risk of costs it might need to be sellable, carrying the space (in retail, things tend to be looked at on a $/sq ft basis), and then need to make a profit on your vehicle just to cover overhead, because if all they do is break even on your trade, they lose money.

But seeing the bigger picture is beyond the scope of most people these days, who sadly, can't see past their own noses...

That being said, some dealers will bend you over and ram it hard, no vaseline, but, there are also a ton of customers who's expectations are so out of touch with reality. When the two meet, perfect storm lol

Why do dealers expect to give you trade in value that matches 5 yrs ago prices and then want you to pay covid prices on the new purchase.

Honestly i hope the raping and pillaging the dealers are doing now comes back and bites them in the ass

I was looking at trading a 19 cx5 Touring fully loaded with 60ks on it. Had one dealer offer me 20grand. See them all over the internet for 28 and up to 34

They know you save the tax and keep much of that margin for themselves. They figure most people will pay thousands to avoid kijidiots.

I agree, that is why I traded it in versus private sale. I knew what I wanted and the book value and HD gave me 500 less than that, plus I saved on purchase. I don't feel ripped off at all and I have zero headaches with tire kickers..
