I hope he one day fully appreciates the horseshoe up his ***

Robbie Maddison would have stuck the landing and come right back out onto the road off the roof of the buick.

I wonder if he yelled "Jesus take the wheel!"?

holy $h!t. Atleast he missed the SUV. How did that happen? Would love to see his helmet cam view/video

How did it happen. Riding beyond his skill level, target fixation, inability to negotiate a curve or all of the above. Happens all the time!

I suppose yeah. Pitiful though. Definitely scary in a group ride, especially on those roads. Like I said, I'd love to see his helmet camera footage. I'm sure he watched it over and over again.

Agree. I must say is quite a beginner mistake. We can see he is not a new rider but definitely need more practice. This is one of the risk going to group rides, is the pressure you get from the peers. Gotta stay within the limits.

I watched it several times and what makes no sense is he seems to be making the turn fine and then for some bizarre reason he just swerves left right in front of the SUV and up the hill?????

Yep, all that plus trying to keep up with the bikes ahead. After they passed the car they were a few seconds ahead, whereas they were all nose to tail before that. So he felt like he had to close back up. It's a very guy thing I find, we not likely to just let the gap grow and shrink naturally, we have to "hold station" or something.

Probably other lessons in there as well.

It's hard to tell, but he must have been a bit over the line. The SUV was braking hard very quickly so the driver must have seen the situation building before it happened.

Exactly what I noticed as well. All seemed OK and then bam I'm going left! not right. Hence why right away I said I want to see it from his perspective. I don't disagree at all with what anyone is saying about how it happened or why.

Easy. He target fixated on the coming SUV, hit the front brake which righted the bike to vertical. Its a classic target fixation, rookie mistake.

I'm sure hes broken but at least the rider missed the SUV and didn't go straight through the barbed wire fence. I think I'd take flying and hitting the ground hard and breaking a few bones than losing a few limbs.

How did it happen? He saw that stunt on tv

I hope he's not too badly hurt. Looked like the motorcycle went thru the wire fence and he just cleared it. Any posts on his recovery?

The individual looked pretty mangled, or at least sounded pretty mangled. Actually sounded pretty pitiful, but I digress, If you look on LiveLeak where the video is posted at the comments, there are alot. I had a look yesterday and didn't see any updates on riders condition. However, I'm certainly not the only one who wants to see the rider's helmet cam footage.
