Bike Won't Start - Need advice

Damn it.

I wanted to ride today, but can't. Anyway, I go to start it up. Dash lights up no problem. Go to start the bike, it's just clicking and not turning over at all. I go to check the battery voltage and it's at 11.5. So my list of potential problems are:

1. dead starter motor
2. battery needs replacing

Does the clicking suggest that the starter engine is fine, but there just isn't enough juice in the battery?

battery. hit happy tire and get a new one and go ride!

edit- doesn't anyone try ti bump start bikes??

They don't know how.
Pretty soon you will be asking doesn't anybody know how to put air in their tires.
I have come across numerous people complaining that something is wrong with their bikes or steering damper or suspension.
When asked when was the last time they put air or checked the tire pressure they tend to respond with...last year.
Add air and wow, the problem went away. :)

Bikes are fashion accessories now.

I bought my bike about four weeks ago and I know it needs a new battery. I could leave it on the trickle charger and it would be good for about two days, but near dead after that; it is a six year old battery, so it is expected. I have bump started it about five times now because the weather got nice and I didn't have it on the charger before hand. It takes me a couple tries on flat road, but I can get it going the first time on a hill. I used to do this with my dirtbike because sometimes the kick-starter would not work. Heck, I have even done this with my car when the starter was toast.

Are you riding that Monster? Those motors need a very healthy battery to crank over.

Make sure the bike is in neutral. Older bikes might have faulty kickstand switch

If that was the case it wouldn't even click....... the kickstand switches disable the ignition entirely.

I've heard with the new bikes they need power to the injectors. I havent had the need to bump start my present bike

Dead battery. Get a battery tender and every time you put the bike away after a ride plug it in. Never have a dead battery and it will last a lot longer!
