As a frequent driver of a fire truck in northwest Toronto , I can personally vouch for the idiotic things that drivers do when confronted with a responding emergency vehicle........ the law states that you are supposed to pull to the right and stop........ many people simply have NO idea what to do....... it really should be part of the driving test (if it isn't already) ....... Many simply slam on the brakes in front of you, others pull to the left, some try to race you (seriously) , and I have even been passed on the right side by some drivers, while responding in emergency mode......... And it's not just drivers.......... I've seen a lot of parents pushing strollers, run right across and intersection , in front of speeding fire truck.......... It's absolutely unbelievable what people will do............ sorry for the rant , but the video above is a slice of reality on the roads......... Cheers, Les

That's why we need "emergency vehicle cameras". Instead of red light cameras or photo radar, mount a camera to the front of every emergency vehicle that can automatically issue tickets to other vehicles that don't get out of the way it is responding to an emergency. Shouldn't be that hard to do with technology these days.
