Bike Stands

Hi everyone,

Thanks in advance.

I am looking to purchase bike stands to have my bike up to do maintenance as well as to keep off the ground for winter storage in my garage. I have looked at many and I am wondering if I can get some feedback as to what people use and how they like or dislike them.

I saw a good deal on Ashphalt Surfer stands, reviews on them were pretty good, they say you get what you pay for.
Pit Bull stands look great and seem to be #1, but do I really need to spend that much money for my basic use? I only plan on using it to keep it up off the ground and do oil chains and basic maintenance, nothing special.

My bike is just a 250, but I don't want it to fall over during the winter months.

Thanks

Your bike is spooled at the rear so it's pretty simple, Cdn Tire sells a perfectly functional set, never heard of Asphalt Surfer stands but it isn't rocket science. You have a plethora of options, best would be to pick up something pre-owned for a price/performance advantage.

Id suggest going with a used set of pitbulls. They are more expensive than others but they are SOLID and there is a noticeable difference using them compared to cheaper alternatives. Everyone I know who has them says the same thing: "I should have just went with these from the start instead of wasting money on crappy stands first."

If you plan on riding for a while, it's a cheap investment over the long run - these will be the last stands you ever buy.

Been using canadiantire yellow stands for 3 years. I think the brand's called Ignition. Comes with different variety of spools IIRC

You won't hear me saying that. Pitbull stands are works of art IMO and will probably last 100 years, but...there's nothing wrong with an $89 set of BVP stands or whatever other brand of stem and spool stands (other than the canadian tire stands which are absolute garbage) I gave had the same pair of BVP stands since 2009, and all I've had to do is paint them once. I use them on my race bikes meaning they've lifted my bikes literally hundreds of times with zero issues.

Yeah, I have two sets of Venom stands from Kapscomoto for $70/pair and no issues in 3 years.
