Bike runs hot

I don't think this is normal, or that everyone who rides simply puts up with this problem.
when my 2011 Ninja 400 the heat that comes off of the engine is almost unbearable on my legs. It's really hot. And it doesn't feel like its just eminating off the bike, it almost feels like its blowing hot air directly on my leg. I find that i have to ride with my knees out just so the air keeps my legs cool. Makes for an unenjoyable ride.
I'm starting to think that somehow the exhaust is blowing right at my legs, or it's cracked somewhere. On my bike the muffler and exhaust is at the bottom of the bike... i don't get it.
No warning lights come on or anything. Bike seems to be running fine otherwise.
Anyone recommend a mechanic in the east york area?

Is this normal of all bikes?

I have a Yamaha XT enduro and I also cannot tolerate the heat and this is why I never ride with shorts on, I also spread out my legs, I think this is normal for many bikes. Has this happened to you in other bikes?

Look where the radiator is, and look where the hot air comes out when the cooling fan is running.

If you are stuck in traffic, that heat is going right on your legs.

If the temperature gauge is below the red zone, it's normal. If there was an exhaust leak, you would certainly hear it and the bike would not run correctly.

Sitting in traffic, even with long pants on, it can get a little unbearable. If hot exhaust were jetting out of a crack in your header onto your leg, you'd get some pretty serious 3rd degree burns. Your bike could be running lean, making your header pipes/valves much hotter than normal, while water temp remains in the normal range. The radiant heat from your header pipe is going to make things uncomfortable.

Hot out + bike is hot = hot air on your legs. do you have a temp gauge? What temp does it read?

Perhaps you're cruising at too high of an RPM? Check coolant levels (if applicable). You should NOT have to avoid putting your knees on the tank. Sometimes my bike runs up around 101C and its not that comfortable; hot air blows onto my crotch area but its definitely very tolerable.
