Hi guys

Wondering Wat the charge will be from the towing company for pounding my bike for 7days?
Is there a set limit Wat they can charge??
thx

I'd take a guess somewhere in the $600-$1000 range.

Then the admin charge to re-instate your licence, i think it was like $140.00

Just curious, If I may ask.. what did you do to get your bike taken?

No limit and after a few days they can put a lien on it and sell it at auction to recoup their fees. Get it as soon as you can.

Just call them and find out so you can have the right amount of cash on hand when you get there next week.

Don't forget to save up for the fine for your court case and/or lawyer etc, and then insurance hike.!!

Ouch!

This is one law that you are guilty until proven innocent.

I would be curious to see what the speed measuring device was that gave a 150 reading. Most are accurate to plus or minus 1km/hr... that may work in your favour. Read the disclosure!

In cases like this they will actually write the speed down by perhaps 10 Kmh, so unfortunately that isn't likely usable. The charge is for travelling at 50 Kmh or more above the posted limit so the actual speed is largely immaterial, as long as it's more that 50 Kmh above.

It's unfortunate that when they created this particular law, they didn't also do something to regulate the towing and storage fees that are applicable. There was a bill tabled to create better controls on the towing industry, a few years back, but it died and I don't think that it was ever revived.

yes, the cost for impound is just ridiculous...i wouldn't feel bad if a few impound lots burned to the ground...how on earth they can allow for an outrageous storage fee to be imposed on someone that hasn't had a fail trial is beyond me...i don't feel bad at all when people run...i would too...loss of license for a week, loss of income if you rely on that license, cost for vehicle retrieval from said lot...with no ability to recoup that loss...

i think the one positive that came out of s172 was that if you speed +50, it's now a strict liability offense because the consequences have jail time

They can still give you a regular speeding ticket.

I had my bike taken last year for some BS, the towing company wanted just under $900, it was around $125 a day plus some tax and fees. Luckily I knew some tow truck drivers that worked for that company, and I got it knocked down to $230...And the charge was dismissed in court
