Bike Carrier Recommendation

I am looking into a hitch carrier for my Suzuki DR650.

I have a newish Tacoma with the factory hitch assembly in place that can handle the weight but seeking some recommendation on the various types of carriers available?

I'd say do a search here on hitch carriers, huge thread most years about pros and cons.

Take a look on drriders.com. You will find more DR specific info there.

I have one of the Princess Auto carriers. I've had a KT530EXC on it for relatively short trips and felt comfortable, but I wouldn't trust it with something like a DR650 on it.

I also drive a Tacoma (2015 4X4 double cab) and it handled the 530 on the hitch fine; you couldn't tell anything was there.

I wouldn't be so sure it can handle the weight. The rated tongue weight assumes that the load is ~6" out from the hitch. Moving the load out ~18" should cut the allowable load by a factor of three. I dislike those carriers for lots of reasons that I have discussed before. That being said, I haven't seen one fail. With a bike on if your taillights are blocked you should add lights to the carrier.

Daughter scored a pa carrier for $50. It's been cut and raised 6" and has big stop/turn signals on magnetic bases that get moved out of the way when loading or unloading. It's on a Chrysler 300. Her TY175 only weighs 185.
