Bike bucks (kicks) in high RPM

Hey all, hope everyones enjoying the season so far.
I have an 06 zx636r and its been acting up lately. Almost everytime i pushing the bike, in second gear (only) and in higher rpm 11000+, the bike bucks, almost an internal kick. its kinda scary.
Any clue as to what it is? Again, it only happens in 2nd gear and in high rpm.
Thanks.

crazy thought... but I know some bikes have a timing retard thingy for certain gears... i think it has something to do with noise levels testing... google zx636r timing retard eliminator. if your timing is altered in the 2nd gear then it's something to look at.

thanks guys. the chain is in very good condition, no slack and lubed. Andre, the sprockets are changed in size so it might be contributing to what you are getting at. Brian, i have no idead if its trying to jump out of gear but it hasnt yet. I thought this might be a common issue (at least with kawis) but i guess not. Thanks again all

is it surging? .... is that what you are trying to describe?

I have 08 cbr125 that does this when the chain asks to be adjusted. I have never checked the shape of the front sprocket. For some reason (in my case) I think it is telling me my front sprocket is worn and I should replace it. If you know your sprockets are good and your chain is adjusted, ignore it. If whatever this is should become a "real" problem then deal with it then.

Sounds like your transmission is kicking out and re-engaging. 2nd gear is a problem on a number of Hayabusas, and they need to have a gear "undercut", the side lugs get worn round. Don't ask me exactly what that's all about, I'm only relaying what I've read, http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/general-bike-related-topics/66609-undercut-tranny.html

do you really mean no slack?

That probably isn't your issue as you say only in 2nd gear but do clarify about your chain tension.

So i checked again and my chain is adjusted to the specs. its not the chain for sure. and the battery is also changed this season so i think its gotta be a transmission problem. And yes it bucks. Pretty scasry sometimes because in 2nd pushing 12-13k, youre doing 120 and have a forward momentun and the bike bucks and kinda kickes me back a bit. i think it has to come apart! thanks again guys

My 02zx6r does the same thing. I have a good feeling it's the second gear slipping. Only happens under heavy accel anywhere in the band. Sounds like yours is just starting.

Does it backfire at all while it is doing as you describe? I had a similar issue once and it turned out to be the sidestand safety switch. It engaging/disengaging randomly causing the bike to cut out briefly which cause a sort of bucking/misfiring sensations but would also shoot flames out the exhaust. Kinda cool, but not.

You have a second gear issue. If you take off and roll on the throttle and accelerate slowly through second gear will it do the same thing? Try it again and roll on the throttle hard, is there a difference? if so then your second gear is trying to jump out under load. Your transmission hasn't come apart but you have either ground down/broken the teeth or the shift fork is bent or worn on the sides. Had the same issue on my R6 last year. It would buck at 5500-6000 Rpm and 8500-9000 Rpm under load. Replaced second and sixth gear and the shift fork and have not had the same problem again.

haha no i had that on my 02 zx6r and it WAS kinda cool lol my friends riding behind always told e its like a fireball coming out but this one is not like that. theres no misfire

hey gamma, im gonna try that today. how much did it cost to fix it? i have a feeling it is exactly that

I had a spare engine for the parts and did the labour myself. It was easy (for me. I don't know how comfortable you would be doing it yourself) and took about 6 - 7 hours to complete at my pace.
