What is the best way to open a PPT (Office 2010) file with a MAC? Free or cheapest is best.

I know I can just google it, but I don't have the MAC to try the solutions out on and am looking for this info for someone else who is having difficulty.

Thanks.

Ok OK ... now for a real answer, This might work.. It's a powerpoint viewer from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3583

Edit: That won't work unless they have a very old Mac.

Google Docs can open a PowerPoint file. http://groups.google.com/group/google-docs-blog/browse_thread/thread/37ec1c99642b22ce?pli=1

KEYNOTE '09 imports Powerpoint files http://www.apple.com/iwork/keynote/
"You can use it to import presentations created in Microsoft PowerPoint"

ALSO:
"Look for the version number....if it's 10.5.x (Leopard) or 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) then you have a powerpoint *viewer* built right in. Just click ONCE on the file you want to view and tap the spacebar. Boom, the ppt file will pop straight up on your screen.

That works on just about any file by the way. It's called quickview."

I'm pretty sure you can get Office for Mac as a free trial from Microsoft

Just install Libre Office... Basically, most developers left the Open Office project and moved the code to Libre Office.. Also cleaned up the code, made it less buggy and it's under active development.

Free and functional office suite. What else do you need?

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll pass them on. I found out our school has MS Office for 2010 - free for students!

Cheers!

Windows Live (aka Hotmail) allows you to open and edit Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and OneNote files. Free of course.

What happened to Open Office?
Did they kill it?

When Oracle bought Sun, they didn't show much support for inherited Open Source projects, but still tried to boss the developers around. The developers picked up, took the code and left. For now, Oracle is still making a half-arsed attempt at maintaining the project but can't really maintain a good product when they have no interest, most of the developers moved to another project and so did the rest of the corporate sponsors.

Long story short..
LibreOffice - alive, healthy, active, under constant development
OpenOffice - evolutionary dead end, still ticking away for now, but not for long

Neo Office... free version of Word, Xcel and PPT.
neooffice.org

Use it all the time at my work.

I guess I'll have to navigate to LibreOffice
