Thought I would start the thread to see what else comes up.
Lots of great places for food downtown, but once you get out past the 'burbs, you have to know where you are going. the Shed and Hockley General are fine destinations, but there is a lot out there.
Three places I can say are worth the stop are:
1. Fresh cut fries at the garden center at Hwy 9 and Tottenham Rd. Their poutine and ther burger made of grilled cheese sandwiches (a la burgers priest) is epic.
2. Michael's Bakery in that strip mall in Nobleton has some of the best porchetta sandwhiches around, and serves a proper Italian espresso.
3. The Grackle Coffee Co. in Schomberg, people even ride bicycles there just for the hermit cookies. Serious about their ice cream as well.
That italian bakery in Caledon East does a passable chicken parma sandwich, but it's no California.
Anywhere else in the country?
