B'bye Fjr1300...

'Wen to a local Yamaha dealer today to pick up some engine juice...
'Mentioned that 2021 will be the last model year for the fjr...
'Some business about your oh peein' emissions standards...
was he wearing a red flannel shirt by any chance?

Yup, my dealer told me back in August that there wasn't going to be a 2022. I'll be going RT next time around. I think Yamaha is making a mistake not updating the bike as both Suzuki and Honda are stepping up with new sport tourers.

A few other models are being dropped as well.

All of the ducatis are being replaced by new models, the new monster, as well as the new v2 streetfighter that will likely replace the monster 1200

From what I've read it's a matter of not being able to meet emissions standards... Apparently the engine would need a major redesign.
Probably not financially feasible at this time.
BMW just updated the K bike line to be euro 5 compliant. Guess Yamaha didn't feel the FJR was worth the investment.

Totally possible...
It's the accountants, not the engineers that decide what gets built.
When FJRs came out in 03, the ST class was unique, no cruiser, standard, sport or Adv could gabg with an ST. Big advs closed the gap, some heavy cruisers got a lit better at performance touring. Honda ducked out a few years back, Kawi uses a the Ninja platform for the connie, and BMW went after Goldwings.

I'll bet the next litre+ surprise from Yamaha will be a killer replacement of the SuperTen.
