hi all,

just saw this batter charger at CT, does anyone have any experience/opinions on it? it's on sale 60% off

http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/p...older_id=1408474396672077&bmUID=1331400660346

yeah winter's almost over, but would it be good as a tender?

btw, I'm reading up on threads here about chargers/tenders....does trickle charge, maintenance mode or float mode on chargers all mean basically the same thing? (that they will just keep topping off the charge of the battery as it lowers?)

That thing charges too high for our power sports batteries. You don't want to exceed 1/10 the amp hour rating of the battery.

Your better off with something like an optimate 3. Pay a little extra for the charger. You get what you pay for.

use it on the 2A setting for an hour every month and you'd be fine. Mine is similar, but not the "Intelligent" version...been using it around 20 years.

But the cheaper 1A ones go on sale often too.

I have something similar. Takes only couple seconds to fully charge my 12 volt battery every bi-weekly on 2 amps. When I took the bike out couple days ago and put the battery in the bike wouldn't start up so I charged it with the charger took 2 seconds and it fired up. I have used the charger on my friends van too and it worked though probably an hour. His alternator was dead.

But you don't need this type of charger if it's only for your bike. 1A should be safer on the battery.
