Barber Sept 29 & 30

Hey all last minute call as I just found out from work I could go. However, the real boss says I can't go unless there's someone else. So who's in the same predicament and wants to experience what may arguably be one of the best motorcycle tracks in North America?

Barber with its pristine track and motorcycle museum has been on my bucket list for a few years.

and at the end of Sept. the temps are still 30C highs and 17C lows. The rubber should stick really well!

Im planning on hitting it this year. Who's interested?

Edit with more info:

Dates: Sept 29 and 30 - leaving Sept 27 and returning to TO on Oct 2 with maybe an extra day in there to see the museum.

Track Day Organizer: STT - no membership required ($30) but if you do, you save 10% off the track days.

Track Day Costs : $235 per day http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/September-29-Barber-Motorsports-Park-Track-Time.html

Trailer Space: Tow Vehicle - minivan with lots of storage and a 5*10 V-nose enclosed trailer with space for 1 additional bike. Fuel usage 18L/100Km on the last trip to Deals Gap.

Post up with any other questions and let's make this happen!

Damn. Would of loved to go, but gotta work Oct 1st .. :(

Currently looking at dates for the usual run to Jennings in winter though ..

I have a couple friends booked that weekend, and another that wants to go but doesn't want to do the trip himself. Their plans are to go to the gap the week before and finish up with Barbers.

How much is it gonna be for the weekend? And you have the trailer for our rides? Im a little intetrsted

Inferno, too bad it would have been good to ride at least once with you during the "regular" season. I'll start working on the wife and work for the Jennings trip. Hey perhaps we could make it a "Barber" trip.

snag45 and HBHarrison, sorry, I was typing the OP on the iPhone so not much description. I'll update it with particulars but yes, there is trailer space. I have a 5*10 vnose that will hold 2 bikes. There's enough space to throw gear and stuff into the trailer too.

The tow vehicle will be my wife's minivan so there's storage space in the back as well. The vehicle and trailer combo was averaging 18l/100Km on the way down to Deals Gap before.

Departure dates, given that the track week-end is Sept 29 and 30, we're probably looking at 2 days travel on either side so leaving on Thursday morning Sept 27 and arriving back in TO on Tuesday evening Oct 2.

The track days are through STT who no longer requires a membership ($30) but if you do buy one, you will save 10% on the cost of the track days. Each track day is $235 and availability will be depending on how fast they fill the track day.

Im not a big traveller .... How long would it take to get there? And wherr are we staying? Or we camping out?

Than its probably not a trip for you. Your looking at give or take 18 hours there one way ..

Just came back from Barber a few weeks ago, drove down in my cage to do a Kieth Code school there. Track and museum are world class!
On the way home I stayed in a local hotel and it took me about 14 hours ( don't forget the track is in the next time zone, 1 Hour behind ) to get to Erie PA, mostly drove at about 10 - 12 mph over ( quite a bit is at 70mph limit..gotta luv it! ) Stopped for a sit down lunch and dinner and a detour to a bike shop near Nashville. Even with a bit lesser speed it could be done in less than 18 hrs.
Once you get away from the border cities the hotels are reasonable...I stayed at Comfort Inns for around $80 -85 per night. Same hotel in North Bay costs me $ 130.

Pictures don't due the museum justice...and yes that is a carbon fibre F1 car on top of the elevator:D
btw that is only the 4th and 5th floor showing in the pic

Yun,

I'm interested. Can you PM me your number?

Cheers,

Jeremy

Damn, the excitement level has just jumped a few notches. Weather looks great for that week-end and I've got company so it's not just me, myself and I to share in the experiences.

I'll post the vids and pics when I get back!

Was just at barbers yesterday, LOVED it! Having a track day going on while I browsed the museum provided a great soundtrack :). Got a short video of the corner I could see from the museum. I hope that rider on the grey r6 or r1 that went down is ok.

You were there? You should have joined us!

Yeah there were alot of red flags on Saturday in the Intermediate group. But there was a bunch of shenanigans going on as well. That's what happens when you mix a peeps who should be in Advanced in with Intermediates, cherrypicking.... LOL

Your vid is of the "Museum" corner and the angle of the shot doesn't truly reflect how much of a drop that is. If you've ever skied before you know that when sitting at the top it's MUCH more intimidating. You just have to trust in your tires, track surface and GOD! LOL

I was exactly where you took the vids on Friday and we were watching them run the Porche Driving School, apparently they had Porches that JUST came out on the market. George Barber is one hell of a guy and must have connections everywhere in the motorsports industry.

It was a GREAT time and I hope you enjoyed that museum as much as we did. What an awesome place! Some/All of motorcycle's iconic creations throughout history.

I was and still am mesmerized by the Britten bike. Seeing it in person makes it that much more unbelievable that it was hand crafted and took on the Works boys on their own turf!
