Thought I'd give a 5-star review for the Ballistic EVO2 Performance Battery cuz I'm cool like that.
For those of you who just want a summary:
* More juice than your typical lead acid battery
* Much smaller and MUCH lighter
* More reliable, and much longer warranty period (3yrs)
1. The box, fairly typical, nothing special.
2. Inside, is this tiny little battery that makes you skeptical of how it can possibly start a motorcycle. It comes conveniently packaged in a foam cut-out that perfectly fits the battery. Since this thing is significantly smaller than your traditional battery, that foam cut-out will be VERY useful during installation. (will specify later)
3. Comparison of the old traditional lead acid battery and the new replacement Ballistic performance battery
4. Installation, removed old battery and replaced with ballistic battery. Note that the original battery tray is WAY too large. Now take the foam cut-out from the packaging, cut the foam to fit the battery tray, put foam onto battery tray and slide the battery in for a tight custom fit. Battery terminals mount directly to original wiring using the 10mm bolts included with the battery.
5. Okay, I didn't use the foam but that's because I don't plan on keeping the battery on this bike. So what I did instead is grab a few old rags and filled in the spaces left in that oversized battery box, then strapped on the rubber band that was used to hold the old battery in. Needless to say, I didn't spend too much time on this since I was only testing the battery on this bike. But it did the job. Mounting the new battery took less than 5 minutes to do .
END RESULT: I was tremendously impressed with how much the power this battery produces. When starting the bike, the starter cranks faster and sounds smoother than the stock battery, and that's after having the battery sit for a year unattended. So basically it's lighter, smaller, more reliable, better warranty, performs better, easy to install, and doesn't discharge. I don't see any reason for anyone not to upgrade.
On a side note, it's rumoured these batteries don't perform well in cold weather. But after seeing this video of a cold start from below freezing temperatures, I was sold:
