Balancing Carbs - Remote Fuel Tank

Well my bike is still down due to carb related issues, and I'm sitting here waiting for parts on a beautiful, ideal riding day. :sad5:

Anyway, once I get everything back together I'm going to want to balance my carbs. What kind of remote fuel tank setup do you guys use when you balance your carbs? Do you guys use anything fancy, or do you just mcguyver up whatever's lying around?

Pics would help....mostly because I'm bored and I want to look at pics. Humor me damnit!

Thx!

Yup. I have an aux "fuel tank" installed in my street bike right now... it's a small funnel. I simply, but carefully, cut the btm/end of the funnel (it's tapered) such that the fuel delivery hose fits very snug through it. I then zip tied the funnel to the frame to aid in stability.

Edit: You're not waiting on parts to balance/sync your carbs are you?

Are you talkign about Synching the carbs?

can't you do it with the tank on?

Technically you could, assuming the hoses for your vacuum gauge or manometer were long enough, but you'd have to take the tank off again for every single little adjustment.

Ya synching....me no english well. :p

The way my bike's set up, it would be a huge PITA to have the tank on. Teal's idea with the funnel isn't bad haha.

And no, I'm waiting for some screws for the carbs and a throttle cable. The screws for the upper and lower retaining plates were pretty goddamn seized up and I mutilated the hell out of them taking them off.

Ah!! I see.
Pardon my ignorance.

I have only done Carb Synchs on my VFR V4 engines and all had reachable vacuum ports and carb synch screws. With the tank mounted.

Good luck to you Flashmonkey
