What kind of person break-checks a motorcycle, especially in -15ºC weather? This guy is driving a Tesla, and I assume he break-checked me because my headlight was in his side mirror. If not, I don't know what other reason he felt he had.
I guess it's possible it had nothing to do with me and he just dropped something, or spilled his coffee. Either way, I'll watch for this guy in the future, and talk to him if I get the chance. I've seen a White Tesla several times on my commute to work so I assume this is his regular commute as well.
Unfortunately, the video is too blurred to get a plate number.

A little of column A, a little of column B.

He probably did it thinking "what kid of idiot rides a motorcycle in -15 degree weather, I'll show him"
Do not waste one second of your time trying to correct or inform this driver, it won't happen.

I think some Tesla owner don't fully drive their cars and depend on some of the auto or drive assist features. Like slowing down without braking.
I've notices these weird behaviours from more then one Tesla.
Just stay away from them and don't engage, why give yourself more hassles.

"talk to him if I get the chance"

Goodluck with that.
It could happen at a red-light, but most likely you're right because I usually have earbuds in my ears listening to an audiobook on my commute. It would be difficult.

Without the license plate, how would you know if it's the same car, never mind the same driver? White is a pretty popular colour with those.

The ear buds and your audio book aren't the problem.
How do you think the conversation will transpire and do you think there will be a positive outcome?
If the driver actually did brake check you, do you think you can keep your calm to say "please sir, don't brake check me" and do you think the driver will say "my apologies my good man, i had no idea smashing the brake pedal would put your life in peril"

goodluck with that.

I understand what you're saying. That's one way to see it.

That's a good point. It's POSSIBLE that the Tesla guy didn't apply the brakes himself but the driver aids did.

My wife and I drove the PEI this past summer in her Mazda CX5. At one point in New Brunswick I woke up (a little annoyed) and asked her why the Hell was she constantly on the brakes? She told me that she wasn't and it was the driver assist while in cruise. The car was pretty new and the assist parameters were maxed out. Pretty much anytime there was a car within sight it would apply the brakes.

That notwithstanding, as others have said you have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO GAIN knocking on somebody's window to engage in a conversation about their behavior.

One reason why there are so many White Teslas- probably because they are cheaper compared to other colors.

And agreed, there are way too many white Teslas.

I drove my parents CX5 and tried the robo cruise. Aw hell no. Accelerate, brake, repeat. It doesn't look far enough ahead and coasting is not an option for it. Switched to dumb cruise quickly as it was a much more enjoyable ride (and should save gas too).

You're definitely too close to a braking car, but we can't tell why by the photo you've given.
A brake check looks unlikely as he's in the midst of passing another vehicle.
An alternative interpretation would be that you were pushing him, and following too close.
Like I said above, you can't tell the difference with that single photo.
It's a 50 zone there, isn't it?
It's completely possible that he started to pass, and then realized that he needs to turn right at the next intersection.

Temperature is irrelevant, as I wouldn't want to be brake checked at -15, 0, 15, or 30 degrees.

You're right that you can't tell much from just a photo, you prove that with your attempts to defend him and imply I must be at fault.
He was not passing. He had been riding side-by-side with that car for about 2kms. He was not turning right unless he planned to go for an early morning swim in the Grand River.
I was also not following too close. Close, yes. Too close, no. This photo is clearly AFTER he braked and you can see there's still some distance there.
As I said, my best guess is that he didn't like my headlight aligned with his mirror. Maybe he thought the LED lights were high-beams. I don't know. That's why I would like to have the opportunity to ask him, but that's unlikely to ever happen.

I am not implying that you're at fault. Your picture is doing that.
You're doing 65 in a 50 while being too close to a braking car.
The car couldn't have just cut you off, as it's beside another car.

If it were me, I'd delete this thread, or show a proper video or gif of the incident.

I'm not sure where getting cut off came into the conversation. There seems to be some kind of miscommunication happening here. Let's leave it at that.

Just an FYI, Tesla one pedal driving means you never touch the brake. The regen is strong enough to slow down and stop your car except in emergency situations.
If you let off enough and the G forces are above a threshold similar to braking, it will also put the brake lights on.

A LOT of tesla drivers suck at driving and let off too much like with a gas car and will constantly flash brake lights.
