Hey everyone,
I'm not a new rider, I've had my motorcycle license since 2008 (M2), had a 1998 kawi ZX6R for a couple of years and sold it to pay off some debt. I'm going for my M June 24 :)

I figured getting another bike after selling my old one would be easy. yeah right.

Here's where things went sour.

The very first time I went onto the highway with my M2 (2008), i was cruising at a decent speed, didn't realize I was doing 20Km over the limit (100) i had an OPP officer pull me over, she was extremely nice btw, probably because i shut off the bike, removed the keys, put them on the floor and removed my helmet.

She said that usually she would let things like this slide, but because i was new to riding she said that giving me a ticket would help teach a valuable lesson. I wasn't too please but I've learned from that and think back to that situation and have become a more responsible driver, and rider :)

She also said to go to court and if my record remained free of tickets she would drop the speed from 20 to 10 over, so no points and a small fine. I wasn't going to argue I did what she told me to do and 7 months later I had a 10 k over ticket on my record.

Now the fun part.
(sorry long story but I'm very excited about today (June 5th).
I bought my new to me bike last may 2011, its a 2006 kawasaki NInja ZX636 special edition with 3,000KM on it. My previous SF agent said that getting a new bike wouldn't effect my rates, well it did, I had to wait 1 year from last may until today JUNE 5 in order to insure the bike without my car insurance getting jacked up (multi-vehicle insurance) so as of today I get to ride again :) !!!! I'm super excited!

here is my bike today :) I will put two pics up, what it was when i first got it and what I've done to it over the year. I'm very please with what i've done to it, I know a lot of people say they don't like a lot of decals or the flames (the original owner didn't like them lol, but I seem to like them and because its a special edition bike, i feel they have to be on :)

things i've done would be adding the original flame decals back onto the bike, it was long evening but i got them done myself :)
pazzo levers, black with red adjusters
hotbodies tinted windscreen
flush front turn signals
solo seat cover
HID headlights
(i have to install still), integrated tail light from Advanced Lighting.
The only imperfection on this bike is a small zipper scratch on top of the gas tank.

You sound like you did learn your lesson. Very responsible for waiting and not riding without insurance etc like some people do or would because they don't have control. I'm sure it was one of the hardest things to resist, so congrats and many enjoyable KM's this season. Stay clean :)

Thank you :) I appreciate the kind words!

i would not take the risk of going out with no insurance, I've learned from other peoples idiotic mistakes when taking a motorcycle out for a ride with no insurance. A buddy of mine was pulled over twice with no insurance, the second time was bad, he rear ended a car and sent his girlfriend flying off the rear seat...cops asked for insurance , he had nothing to say now he has two insruance infractions on his name, he can't ride anymore because rates are way too high.

He didn't learn his lesson lol !

but thank you again :) I've had to be really really patient !

welcome back to riding ! and the forum

I gotta ask the stupid question here, but how can a Ninja 2006 only have 3000km? I have a 2012 that got in April and just today I did 4050km

i can answer it for you.

I purchased it off of an older gentleman, around the 40 year old mark who had 2 kids, he bought it off of his best friend who i did speak with as well who owns a couple of bikes, he purchased this bike from kahuna while still owning an older zx6r and had a child as well, sold both of his bikes, this one went to his best friend who said he put about 200km on it because of the kids, and decided to sell it as well because he bought a new house.

I then bought the bike last may 2011, and at this time as my OP says, i haven't taken the thing out at all so the 3,000 approx km that are on the bike are the same that have been there since i bought it last year lol ! I Know its weird i was a little skeptical about it too, but my reassurance was speaking to the original owner who was the second owner's best friend and looking through some filed receipts that he had put away.

the only thing i didn't like was the he removed the original decals, but thats alright now since i've put them back on lol ! before i even left a deposit, i checked out the paint and body work, because he removed the decals, i wanted to see if i could see any signs of painted panels, or filled in cracks, and there wasn't :) everything checked out perfectly, there was some glue residue left over from the original decals, but that wasn't a big deal, it came out easily :)

chain and sprockets are original, brakes have lots of meat left on them, and the bike looks brand new. I can assure you that since i've now been able to put insurance on the bike, that it won't have low km's for long lol ! but ya thats my bike story!
