2 issues with this comment:
1. Athletes spend their lives (and give up everything they were familiar with) in order to compete. They entertain us, so we pay money to see them perform. Their careers are generally pretty short, so the payout that they get is -mostly- justifiable. Also, they get money from us because we WANT to pay them - it is not inherited. How does the Royal family entertain anyone? What have they done aside from collect Millions (Billions?) in taxpayer money based on their previous ownership of the kingdom? Why are they still collecting money (if they are, i really dunno)?
2. "Our" problems are very real and serious, depending on where and how a person choses to focus his/her attention. Poverty, joblessness, hunger, illnesses, the environment - pick your poison (internationally, or even right here on Canadian soil). Wouldn't we -as a humanity- be better off focusing our attention on these things, rather than some rich twats that offer nothing current & useful to our (or anyone's) society?
