Hello fellow riders!

Starting to ride this year (ABOUT DAMN TIME!), and couldn't be more excited for the Spring.

So far, this site seems to be a pretty good place to find some valuable information and some interesting people. I'll be sticking around, so here's to 2012 kicking *** on 2 wheels!

Sure have. I've done quite a bit of research into various costs with various bikes. Originally, I was looking at starting with something along the lines of an SV650, but the capital and insurance cost were just out of reach.

glad you did your home work now we cant call you names lol.....joke

Welcome... The SV650 is a good starter bike, but the capitol and insurance can be a bit high. As for insurance, have a "plan B". Allstate dropped my Gladius because it was a "naked sports bike"... and since public nudity is illegal, my bike is already breaking some laws (stupid Allstate).

Where are you doing your motorcycle course? I did mine at Sheridan on Trafalgar and loved it.. highly recommended!

I'll keep that in mind. I've made a few calls and received a few quotes online. Also looking into insuring myself with my current Auto insurance provider, RBC, but I'm not expecting great things there.

As for the training course, I actually completed that 2 years ago! May 2010, and I ended up doing it at Centennial as the early courses at Sheridan were booked up. I was actually a student at Sheridan at the time, and in the process of starting an 8 month coop stint in my program. Moving for a job kept me from buying a bike that summer, and from there I found myself needing to wait until I graduated. I used to watch the weekend course taking place from classroom windows, it looked fantastic. The course at Centennial was exceptional just as well.

Interested in an '08 Suzuki GS500F? I'm sure insurance isn't far off from the 250

Thanks for the offer, but that was another one I was looking at. From what I gathered, anything above the 250 range, so long as it was out of the super sport class, would work out to roughly the same cost. The SV650, GS500F, FZ6, FZ6R, and EX650 all fell into that category when I was shopping for quotes.

Welcome!!
