How many km's do you guys average in a year on your bikes?

Statefarm sent me a letter asking me how many km's will be driven a year and I dont know how to answer that. Bought my bike last year and havnt had a chance to put it on the road yet.

Just like not too crazy, I dont plan on driving across the country or any crazy far trips.

5000

Average people around 5 to 6.

Riders around 20k and others that bought a bike to be cool but then realized the bike has nothing to do with it 1k

why am i the only one to figure this out?they are asking because they want to rape you on insurance cost.trust me if you tell them you ride 5k a year your price will be sky high cuz your a risk, tell them you ride once a week for pleasure only and never say u ride to work....then your a huge liability if you fall...as they will have to pay your work wages...the insurance company is not your friend....so word to the wise...you ride only in the day once a week when everyone is gone on vacation...

Wow I put almost 4k on my bike from September to December last year..... but I'm new, and it's still all pretty exciting for me. Can't see it ever losing that factor though....

Yah, I wanted to ask that question. If you put 5k vs 3k would it effect the rates?

And also, Ive heard some insurance ppl asking for pics of the odo reading. They sent the letter asking for my current odo and how many km's would be put on in 12 months. Not sure if I can just tell them some small number of k's what if they ask for a pic one day lol

So you gotta do 20K to be a rider? :lmao: (19,000km straight road btw)

it certainly does affect your price...tell them 500 klms a year...im not ******** you...and try td home and auto....everything is done over the phone....they never harrass you...

15k kms a year for me. I have 30k km a year insurance on a 600 ss from state farm, 27 and two tickets, $161 a month. I hardly call that being raped lol. Especially for the area I live in.

Cool, thanks. would they ever ask for a pic of odo readings? what if I tell them 500kms and they ask for a pic. would they rape me even worse than if I just told them 5k? Lol

That seems about what I have been quoted. I was talking to a SF agent wen I purchased my bike, and she gave me a ball park quote of $140 a month, Im 26 and had an at fault accident 6 years ago. Seems okay to me and this is a quote for a 2007 R6

160 a month for a 600 is nuts man....i have a aprilia 1000 worth nearly 30g and i pay 750 a year at td home n auto....ive never sent in pics of odometer readings...never been asked...if u ever get asked....take a pics off a buddies bike with low k i guess...but never heard of that....shop around and be intelligent what u say to them....remember they r not your friend...its business...they r there to make money...its a cut throat world we live in...
im 44 btw....my rate would be cheaper than yours...but knowing what to say will also help you out.

Considering I was paying $185 a month for an fz6r, that's a very good rate for my age, location and tickets. I pay 2x that for my Edge as well. I've never been asked for pictures, just odo readings. Also, I wouldn't lie to insurance about anything. They will find any reason to deny a claim and lying to them about anything, even small, is a good way to do that.

Yah, that is a good point about tricking insurance ppl.

I have never tried TD insurance, guess Ill give them a call on monday and see what they can do for me. Thanks guys

Yea, trust me. My friend is having a very hard time as it is living off the maximum pay out of $400 a week after having his leg run over by a large passenger vehicle on the 401 back in September. If he didn't have that, I don't know what he'd do. It's almost impossible to live on your own in this city on that income. He works construction like me so he can't get back at it for quite some time still. Also, as a result, his injured leg is now permanently 1" shorter than the other. Not a fun thing to live with.

Went you go to get your stickers for your plates dont they ask you for your odometer reading?

Thats how insurance would know how much km a yr u would ride.

Whats to keep you from giving a different number?

BTW mto and insurance companies don't get together and check the reported odometer reading vs actual.

If you guys are so curious about this why not call up a broker and ask them instead of guessing?

i average between 13-18K per year. My 13K year the bike was down for two months for for carb issues. Usually 15-18K. But I live in the country, and ride for work from site to site. I fill up twice in a day fairly often ;)
