I always think about this in terms of occupational safety.
Personal Protective Equipment is the LAST line of defence and shouldn’t be relied upon to save you.
Safe riding techniques/practices (administrative controls), proper maintenance (engineering controls) do more than gear (PPE).
But Motorcycling is dangerous. The best protection is removing the hazard (stop riding). We can’t do much there.
Interesting that NOTHING tested well. 5 stars seems out of reach. I would love to see real world data (impossible to collect) on all of these. I have a Dainese Racing 3 that I thought would be on the higher end of the spectrum for Safety on the road....but this test says not really.
