Sub zero weather is here now.Are you ready for storage?

Out of interest, does the factory fill contain antifreeze in it (in most cases)? I still have whatever the CBR250R came with (2011 model), but figure it must otherwise people would be trying to claim warranty when their coolant freezes/reservoir cracks.

As a side note, I doubt it does matter much to me -- Underground parking, so it should never actually hit 0C where the bike is sleeping.

When I drained the 250R to get it ready for water/wetter for the track it had anti in it from the factory.

All new bikes have anti freeze this is a warning for the track guys who have installed water for the track. I didnt bother draining mine last year and probably wont his year my garage never got below 5c.

What do you use to heat it Steve?

I just drain mine and leave it dry ... then fill it back up with water / wetter in spring ...

I was considering doing that but my garage gets freaking cold in the winter.... as in, cold enough that I don't want to do ANY work on it until April. Last year I started the track bike conversion in November-Early December.... then didn't get back to working on it until April.

I would think some tubes would get wet/frozen with whatever water was lingering around (I imagine it would take a lot of tipping over to get completely empty).

yeah i removed the drain bolt and put a jack stand on the one side against the frame slider and let the bike site there on its side and drain for about 20 mins...

I've done this the last few yrs with no problems...

While we're at it, don't forget to bring your warmers in to your nice warm house.

I made it by 10 hours. Got my bikes back from Z1, let them sit overnight, it was 2C. I figured... I'd better get the water out of the 600 (the 1000 has engine ice, good to -25C) if I'm going to leave the bike in the trailer. Had trouble getting the fairing off so i drained the water into the belly pan and figured it would drain out into a water pan I left under it (it didn't). 10pm I remembered that I should check the water, went out to the trailer and..... all the water i drained was frozen in the bellypan.

Had to wait until 4pm the next day to get the water and ice out.

Closer than I ever want to be again.

and leave them hanging/flattened out.... don't ball them up them in that tiny box.

That's close lol... I do mine the weekend of my birthday (last weekend of October). All the tracks are closed around that time anyway.

Mine came rolled up and I just left them that way... haven't been used yet, if that makes a difference.
Should I just let them hang? lol
