I am looking at hitting up Atlantic City in August but have never been. I have gone to Vegas more times than I can remember so going to switch it up. Anyone been and has any info?

- good/bad places to stay
- good/bad places to eat
- any show recommendations
- close by items that are a must do

I really have no idea about the quality of the hotels here and if they are comparable to their sister vegas resorts. Any info is appreciated.

Atlantic City is a ********..save your money.. Go to Boston and watch a Red Sox game..

Might as well go to Seaside Heights, otherwise known as Jersey Shore!

I used to vacation at seaside heights, before the jersey shore gong show. Was a great place, no chance in hell of me going there now.

Invictus is right about Atlantic city, venture a mile away from the casinos and it's a completely different world.

Like the rest say Paul - once you're off the Boardwalk - Frantic City is like somebody **** and you landed in it.
If you like poker - hit the Taj or Borgota.
There's abosolutely NOTHING to do off the boardwalk, other than get mugged / robbed or worse. And don't ever bother going in the winter - unless you're like me - strictly on a gambling mission.
Go back to Vegas & enjoy.

Wow great reviews all over. Gary, I was looking at doing a road trip in August as I have the week off after the indy motoGP weekend which I was giong to drive over to AC which would have been cheaper then driving back home from Indy and flying to Vegas.

Looks like I will have to figure out something else as I have no problem going by myself to gamble the whole time but the Mrs. doesn't gamble quite as much as me so I was hoping there would be a bit more to do then trying not to get killed.

Hey Paul - if you're driving to indy - check out flights on Southwest to Vegas. It's dirt cheap ($147 each way from Buffalo), so indy should be, a lot less. Park & fly - ignore Frantic City and enjoy the best of times (summer) in Vegas. Just a thought.
I've been flying out of Buffalo (Southwest Air) to Vegas the last few times........can't beat the pricing.

In general..if you can get Southwest to anywhere from Barffalo the pricing is awesome. And the service is actually pretty good. If I have to go anywhere in the States, I try to use Southwest..so cheap. And no checked baggage fees!!

I checked that out already, I thought it would be cheaper than it is. With taxes for Robyn and I it comes out to $750 and then parking while we are gone, hotels, food, gambling, shows etc...on top of that. I assume that the indy weekend wont be an inexpesive weekend so was looking to add on a few extra days of fun afterwards. Guess I'll have to chat with her and decide.
