Arch Enemy live?

AE used to be my number 1 favorite band. They moved down a tiny bit now but I still love this band. Been a fan since Burning Bridges. Seen them live at least twice....maybe three times, I can't remember. They are pretty solid live. I'm hoping that also with that "Root of All Evil" cd that they put out fairly recently with all the rerecordings of some of their older, pre-Angela material with Angela on vocals they will play some old stuff. Would be nice, as I'm a HUGE fan of the first 4 albums.

I kind of lost track of who the hell the second guitarist is now. I've always seen them with Chris but there's been a lot of juggling in that band over the last few years of the second guitarist as I believe Christopher was on/off attending school. But yeah, I'll be there for sure, I wouldn't miss this.

EDIT: Did you catch the Carcass reunion tour a year back or so? It was pretty solid too. Heartwork is one of my favorite albums of all time.
EDIT2: LOL, never mind year ago...it was 2008....damn, time flies

I actually kinda like this band even tho it's a bit metalcore, but the female lead vocals is pretty unique. could be a good show, what vanue?

Not that unique, really.

Gen, lead singer for the Genitorturers. The band started out in Florida in the early 90s.

And 10 years before that Wendy O. Williams was taking names fronting the Plasmatics.

Metalcore? LOL WUT? There is absolutely NOTHING "core" about Arch Enemy.

To be honest, I kinda preferred when the band was "that band with the two wicked guitar player brothers" over "the band with the chick singer"......but the music remained solid and Angela is a solid vocalist so I'm not complaining. Just kind of a shame that they are now more recognized for the "female singer who sings death metal vocals" gimmick than the musical and song writing talent which is very much still present.

I haven't attended too many concerts recently, maybe 2 a year, and that was mostly softer stuff like Metallica or Muse.
Was supposed to go to Rammstein but I broke my ankle just a week before, heard it was weak anyhow.

Arch Enemy is kind of unique as there aren't too many (successful) bands with growling female singers but yeah, that's also why they seem to get attention nowadays, which is a bit sad, considering that they're pretty good musically.

Anyhow, I'm going. I can't believe they have this at Phoenix at it isn't sold out yet. Such a small venue... A lot of Euro bands have poor exposure in North America.

I think they're classified as melodic death metal but I won't bother arguing as I really don't care about categorizing. I'll listen to anything as long as it's quality. (and not country)

BTW, I'm a bit worried how will Angela's voice hold up. Toronto show is 3rd in 3 three days, with no break.

I was at Rammstein. They got a crazy stage show. Was actually pretty solid. I also wanted to go to Heavy TO but my bodybuilding show was that weekend. lol

Lots of good shows coming up in the next couple months:
Evergrey (proggy metal band....clean vocals....VERY good, one of my favorites.....if you haven't heard them check them out. Seen them before but only once)
AE
Opeth (in London though....ughhhh, hate that drive)
Yngwie Malmsteen (yeah, nerdy, go ahead and laugh...I have a soft spot for this fat **** though.....my email address is one of his album/song titles)
Dream Theater (seen them so many damn times though that I might skip this....plus, kinda pricy)

I'll probably end up hitting up like 3 of these, maybe 4....to be honest I don't go to that many concerts any more either. I used to go to TONS but well....maybe I'm getting old. lol And I'm not into much of the super extreme stuff (Nile, Cryptopsy, etc.). I like some melody.

Oh and don't worry about Angela's vocals....she's a pro. Been touring with AE for years now.

I'll look into Evergrey.

I like melody, too. That's what got me hooked on Arch Enemy. Not Angela. Although she's certainly not of the repulsive type.
The only reason I worried about her voice is because if I growled for more than 5 minutes I'd need a new throat from one of those body part dealers in South America.

My friends probably told me Rammstein was crap so I don't feel sorry for myself. At any rate, they didn't play Mein Herz brennt which is my favourite tune. I bloody hate when groups don't play my favourite songs!

I realized I used the word "solid" to describe something at least once in every one of my posts in this thread. Just wanted to continue that tradition and say that I took a dump this morning and it was "solid". That is all.

I want to take a solid dump too

I'd buy the ticket off you but already got mine and my friend's and don't need any more right now.

AE were good. They DIDN'T really play any old stuff (first 3 albums) but they played some solid tracks regardless and even a few instrumentals, which was cool. None of the openers I really got into. The Taiwanese band was kinda OK. I took a female friend to AE and she dragged me to front centre of stage.....she's like 18 years old and 5'1......did not go so well, even with my "protection". Especially durring DD, ........that was to be expected. She got the hell out of there halfway through DD's set.....I could have told her that. LOL

Evergrey in two days. They were great the last time I saw them, should be a good show too. Oh and Opeth is playing Guelph, not London, ..... my bad. Still THINKING about going to that show. We shall see. I have a buddy that goes to Uni in Guelph so it would be doable.

Did you end up going? The turnout was PATHETIC! LIke HOLY CRAP! Venue was 80% empty and there was more people for Sabaton than Evergrey. I think there was about 100 people there durring Evergrey's set. PFFFTT....sad man, sad.

About 100 people and 4 girls total.......and I tried to pick one of them up. LOL Good show though but I felt kind of bad for the band.
