Engine derived from their v4, and if it's a musical instrument like the big one it's gonna be a hit

Did they run out of red paint when it was time to paint the rear wheel? Otherwise great looking bike.
 
They just released Euro pricing, and the First Ride videos are starting to appear. Looks like it'll cost €11k, but that's likely including VAT, so it'll probably be close to the $14-15k that Yamaha asks for the R6. Not cheap, but it's very well equipped.

I'm really intrigued by it. They haven't cut any corners on suspension, and it's crazy light at 370 lbs. It's down on power from the supersports 600s at 100 hp, but will likely be much stronger everywhere below 10k rpm. Bars suggest a street bias, rather than ultra low clip-ons.

As a backroad strafer with commutability and trackability, it could be amazing. Big power is wasted on the road, so this could be just the ticket for Pace-style riding. Sort of like an upmarket version of the first two generations of SV650.

If I wasn't so in love with my Tuono, I'd be putting down a deposit. Hopefully lots do....
 
Ok, so apparently we did need another thread after all because it looks like today is when the review embargo expired. Seems to be part of the welcome trend of street-oriented sportbikes, and this is an example where they didn't completely cheap out on the suspension. People keep mentioning a Tuono version - is that 100% a given now? I thought that was up in the air. Also I kinda wonder how they would position a Tuono version against this, because this is already street-friendly.
 
So weird seeing all the journos from defunct magazines show up on YouTube: Ari and Zach and Chad and Mufga and Trev and Si Hargreaves and Fagan etc. Most Brits seem to work for Bennetts these days, who are doing a fine job of keeping me educated and entertained despite me not being able to give them any business. (As a side note, I see they offer exclusive track days for customers and sponsor racing. Can you imagine? An insurance company that doesn't hate the idea of its own customers actually riding their bikes? What a luxury...)

As for the RS660, I have a feeling that it'll be a bike that journos get all lyrical about but nobody actually buys. I hope it's more SV650 than Honda Hawk GT, sales wise, but I think the price will put it too close to big bikes for it to sell well.

I think the visordown reviewer said the tuono version is basically 100% as well, also they say it sounds good very similar to the v4.

44 teeth review will be the best most likely... Zack and Ari are cool. Fortnine is the most entertaining

Somebody at Aprilia seems to like Canada. Their Canadian pricing tends to be aggressive, at least compared to other countries. Even accounting for VAT, the RS660 is cheaper here than the UK, despite obviously higher freight costs, and only about $150 more than in Italy.

The Aprilia website is terrible, but so is BMW and Ducati. They all seem to specialise in overcomplication.

If you click the RS660 banner at the top (between the very Italian Christmas ad, Aprilia track days, and special offers), it takes you to the US store. But if you choose Canada as your country, you can then select your local dealer, and add accessories to your order. Everything appears to be in CAD, as the accessories are priced with no rounding. They want a $1000 deposit...

(Edit: Digging around the site also revealed their factory-prepped RSV4 race bikes, from Stage 1 at 19,900 Euros to SBK at 39,800 Euros.

Wonder what kind of rates I could get if I remortgaged the house...)

Sounds like a 660 version is all but guaranteed at some point soon, along with a 660 mini-Tuono.

You could always buy a Dorsoduro and pop some trail tires on (but I wouldn't)...
 
Seat height (32.2") is still higher than I'd prefer for my 31" inseam but I like the light weight of it and she's a beauty. Curious what the Tuono version will look like.

That's a pretty standard seat height. GSX-S1000 is 32.1". Aside from tall adventure bikes, width of the bike and seat probably makes more difference to getting a foot down solidly...
