Names their new mid-weight ADV tourer Tuareg.

You'd think VW would be right on the phone with the lawyers, but Aprilia has been using the Tuareg name a lot longer than VW has:

New version drops in the new 660cc powerplant that the RS 660 and 660 Tuono is using.

still havent heard anything concrete about the 660 tuono yet

T7 influence you think?

Looks-wise, mos def.

However, I think each manufacturer's going to try to carve out its own niche. The T7 went its own way with minimal electronics, rather than go head-to-head with the fully kitted-out 790/890. Word is the Tuareg is going to come in at 375 lbs (prob dry weight). If they can keep it lower than 425 lbs wet, there would be a load of customers lining up for a mid-weight ADV that weighs 50 lbs less than the KTM, and who may also have a bit of Orange Fatigue.

Sweet!

I would be (pleasantly) shocked if they managed to get the dry weight to 375 lbs., but either way it looks great.

For those keener eyed individuals - is that a real bike or a photoshop mockup?

Personally I can't tell as my heavy breathing has fogged up my glasses.

Great positioning between the basic T7 and the 790.

A toned down version of the 660 motor will certainly deliver more than the T7 lump, so possibly making it more tour friendly. Especially combined with some of the electronic suite from the 660

I tend to suspect that it will be the same engine as the RS660, possibly with different drive-by-wire throttle calibration and perhaps an artificially lower rev limit (both of which ought to be easily fixed with a re-flash). Reason: Emissions certification (and the costs associated with that). For their purposes it can be "the same".

I really like the RS660 ... but I already have too many bikes ...

Artists rendition using the t7 exhaust, swingarm, wheels, brakes and tires, as well as the front forks and fender which is height adjustable using the same method Yamaha used.
The artist was a wee bit liberal in his use of yamaha parts lol.

Lol. 10000km and it's barely seen dirt yet. Everytime I go riding the wife wants to come, she'll ride gravel for miles on her Gladius with Conti-motion st tires if she has too, but it's not preferred.
