Aprilia Bikes Reliability

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an Aprilia Dorsoduro. I like this bike a lot and I wanted to know how reliable is this brand? I don't want to be waiting around with the bike in the shop for half the season like I heard it happens with Ducs and some Triumphs.
Anyone got experience with these bikes or heard about it?

Love my aprilia. The have a rotax engine which are stone solid and everything else you can get every where.

I heard somewhere that parts are more expensive than for the Japanese brands. I could be wrong though. Other than that all I know is the Shiver 750 doesn't get the fuel economy I would like.

Love my RSV and we have a dealer at Steeles and Dufferin. Corsa Meccanica. He's always taken care of me.

I wouldn't go that far. But I will say that mine has been almost entirely pain-free. I've had two problems - lost a screw or two over time which the big v-twin vibrated off (problem with *ANY* v-twin bike, even the dual-counterbalanced Rotax 990 in mine) and I blew a fork seal - entirely my fault, if you can guess why.

Other than that, oil and fuel is all it's needed since i bought it in late 2008.

My buddy's RSV4 has had some little problems, most notably its fuel thirst issues with the original, highly aggressive and exciting f/a/s map. It's otherwise been fine, although it has had some serious issues to do with dealer incompetence and arrogance.

FWIW, the best and also most frustrating thing about Aprilia is that they are a bit like Ducati et al - they never stop improving the bikes, even the one you currently own. If you follow their new maps and buy their optional upgrades, things can get expensive. But I suppose the same ist true of GYTR etc., it's just that Yamaha rarely improves bikes it's already manufactured for a specific model year. Aprilia (and Ducati) is small and nimble, and buys everything in relatively small batches to assemble the bikes, so you may find 2012.5 year models and the like. Not that this means anything about the bike you have... just that you can get model envy fast. :)

Are you a giant or is that bike super small?
You're not the first person to say that. I'm like 5'11 but everyone is always like "get an R1, you make that look like a toy!". I even had one guy ask me if it was the R125 from overseas? LOL!

It's an 08 R6. I wrote it off and bought an 09 R6S and it looks way bigger?!? lol.
