Anyone want to learn to ride this April??

Hey everyone,

So I'm taking my course from RTI in Toronto April 11th / 13th / 14th and picking up my first bike on the 20th!!

I was wondering if anyone wants to head out on the 20th and learn to ride all day? You know, get a feel for the bike...screw up...have fun times!

If anyone's interested, let me know.

Haha awesome, I should hook up my go pro aswell!!

I'm in the Port Credit / Mississauga area but picking my bike up at Cycle World Superstore in Toronto / Scarborough area so I can do either or...

In time you'll learn Paul's sarcastic undertones... I'll probably be in Sauga then (erin mills area).. let me know ahead of time and we can meet up around there (way better than learning in port credit for sure)

What a newb group ride that's expecting screw ups, sounds fun indeed......ride safe our there guys and please get someone experience in that ride.

Eekkkk! Are you going to Humber? I am, those are my courses date too!

Too bad I can't ride on 20th, I will be out on a small holiday. =[

Edit: This is gonna be so embarrassing since I will be the shortest one there (I just know it)

I'll ride w you on the 20th... starting on the 401 (around 7am would be good) and we can take a quick tour up to Barrie on the 400 and get back on the S bound 400 for like 7:30.... we'll practice "friction point" and emg braking a lot...
 
U wanna practice friction point and emerg braking on a 400series hwy???? Did I get that right:mad:

I admire your enthusiasm.

Not trying to dampen that enthusiasm but you may want to consider a couple of things in order to reduce your risks:
  • avoid 400 series highways
  • don't ride in a group or at least keep the group small - two is best, no more than four
  • pick a location to go to that has low traffic, has a place to gather, park and chat. Maybe an industrial park. This allows you to go out and ride a route than come back to the gather spot and de-brief and chat. You don't need to ride in a parade to get their or to return from it.

Riding in a group is far more dangerous than riding alone. Riding with a group of new riders that is not experienced in riding, never mind the increased complexity of group riding is a recipe for disaster.

I can't imagine a worse idea for new riders. I presume this is sarcasm.
 
Well guys either way....I'm picking my bike up in the morning so we can schedule a meet around noon....Maybe meet in Mississauga somewhere. I want to just play around in a parking lot for a bit and then head north (all backroads though, no highways!!).

Don't worry bro - I'll likely be there and I've had over 2 hours of seat time... so yeah.. I can show him how to wheelie and do other cool stuffs.
 
2 Hours?!?!?! Holy crap we got a seasoned vet here hehehe.

Ok guys....April 20th meet at 1pm at 1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd. (The community centre).

It has a huge parking lot we can practice in for a bit and then we can head out from there!!! If you are coming feel free to respond or PM me, or just show up!
 
Ahhh man I get so nervous when new riders are on the road. The parking lot where you guys are meeting probably will have lots of gravel kicking around in certain spots. Just some friendly advice maybe scope it out the day before and maybe bring a broom.
 
Darn I can't make it on the 20th anymore....hope this rain and cold temps change fast
